How to Draw Ariel, The Little Mermaid

Learn how to draw Ariel the Little Mermaid with easy to follow instruction by Mark Henn, the Directing Animator on “The Little Mermaid” from Walt Disney Animation Studios.

Henn has been a Disney Animator for 40 years. During his career he’s had the opportunity to animated many Disney Princesses, but his first was Ariel.

Disney’s original “The Little Mermaid” was released in 1989 and was credited by many with reviving Walt Disney’s feature animation efforts launching the Disney Renaissance. The animated feature won Academy Awards for Best Original Score and Best Original Song (“Under the Sea”).

Based on that success, “The Little Mermaid” went on to spawn both a sequel and a prequel, an animated television series, and a Broadway musical.

Walt Disney Studios had cast and was ready to start production on a live-action remake of “The Little Mermaid” in March, however that production has been put on hold due physical distancing restrictions related to the unprecedented health emergency we find ourselves in.
