Disney resumes some activity in Japan

The Walt Disney Company announced that it will be returning some operations to Japan for administrative and Disney Store roles. This is seen as the first move to resume film, themepark, and store operations. No word on when the Disney Stores themselves will re-open, and… Read More »Disney resumes some activity in Japan

Dancing with the Stars: Season 12 Premiere!

Hang onto your sparkle shoes, because Dancing with the Stars is back! I’ve been looking forward to this season, because the cast looks so promising. No politicians, no one particularly controversial, just good ol’ fashioned DWTS. And what a season opener it was!

Chelsea and Mark
Dance: Foxtrot
Verdict: Paging the Adorable Police! Chelsea danced like this was already week six or something – she has a natural talent and a ton of potential. This was a charming, wonderful start to the season.
Carrie Ann: “Youthful and elegant, but watch your shoulders” – 7
Len: “A lovely, fresh routine” – 7
Bruno: “Pure afterglow” – 7

Fun Finds: New Disney Candy in the Parks

For me, part of the magic of a Disney Vacation is discovering what delicious treat is available that wasn’t on my last trip. This weekend I found a whole new line of very creative Disney themed candy. I love the names and the package design that went into creating this line. The price is too close to movie theater candy for my taste, but I will definitely be trying these sweets as the opportunity arises.

I found 13 different varieties. See close-ups of each box below the jump:

Tangled Q & A Meet the Directors

Disney’s Tangled will be released on Disney Blu-ray & DVD March 29th. Make sure you check out our contest for a chance to win a copy, or pre-order it on Amazon.

As part of the promotional tour for the DVD, I had a chance to sit in on a virtual roundtable with Tangled’s directors Nathan Greno & Bryan Howard. I’d say the biggest news is that Greno and Howard are already tapped to develop another film for Disney.

Q – Congratulations on the film’s success. Have you given any thought to making a sequel?
A – Nathan Greno: We’d only do a sequel if there was a great story to tell. The movie buttons up really nicely… but we do love those characters… I guess we’ll have to wait and see. Again, we’d have to have a great story already in mind if we wanted to do a sequel…

Q – Are you pleased with the film’s title change from “Rapunzel” to “TANGLED”?
A – Byron Howard: When Nathan and I figured out that this film was really about two characters, Flynn and Rapunzel, we knew that changing the title would be a good idea. We like that TANGLED as a title sounds smart and intriguing, while also relating to the tangle of plot, characters and emotion in the film.

Q – Having worked in both mediums, what do you prefer about computer animation and what do you miss about traditional 2D animation?
A – Nathan Greno: I really love both 2D and 3D animation. 2D is really graphic and classic. 3D has amazing textures and cameras to play with. It all comes down to your story… some tales work best in 2D, some in 3D!

Revenge of the Disco Yeti

Pity the poor Disco Yeti. Touted as the animatronic to end all animatronics; jet powered with an amazing range of motion; guaranteed to scare the living daylights out of thousands of roller coaster riders on Expedition Everest daily; and yet, seemingly forever frozen in a… Read More »Revenge of the Disco Yeti

Will Mickey and Minnie Photo-Op say ‘No’ to Late Guests?

As you may have heard Mickey and Minnie are moving to a new meet and greet location in Town Square at the recently renamed, but not yet open, Town Square Theater. We posted recently about how this will be the first character meet and greet to feature a Fastpass option. There is still quite a bit of construction going on around the area, but rumors of exactly how the Fastpass system will work are beginning to circulate.

A big rumor and some thoughts below the jump:

Yokai at EPCOT’s Japan Pavilion

One of the great things about the Japan pavilion is the little exhibit space where Americans are exposed to some of Japan’s cultural artifacts. For a long time there was an excellent Tin Toy exhibit with a fun video from John Lasseter. Sadly toward the… Read More »Yokai at EPCOT’s Japan Pavilion
