Mariah Carey sings song for Oz: The Great and Powerful

Recently, “Almost Home” was released online, the new song from Mariah Carey which will be featured on the Oz The Great and Powerful soundtrack. Give it a listen!

So, what do you think? Personally, I am in love! Such a catchy beat and not the usual sound for Mariah. I will be definitely purchasing this tune!

Walt Disney Records will release the digital original motion picture soundtrack for “Oz The Great and Powerful” on March 5, 2012. Oscar-nominated composer Danny Elfman reunites with director Sam Raimi for “Oz The Great and Powerful” after composing original scores for the filmmaker’s blockbuster hits “Spider-Man,” “Spider-Man 2,” “Darkman” and “A Simple Plan.”

Elfman said, “I didn’t really go in with any sense of what I wanted to do other than just to follow the film. It was incredibly clear because the characters and what they were doing, and what their quests were, and what needed to be done, were all laid out, so I fell into it very easily.” Elfman employed a traditional orchestra for the film to give the music a classic feel. He relates, “Sam did want a very strong, traditional feel to this movie. I think there has always been the feeling that we’d like to try to give it a classic feel and a timelessness.”

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times Raimi said, “Danny has a grand arsenal of musical abilities. He’s able to create a sweeping gigantic sound that can really describe a tremendous scale and help us create this very unique world that Frank Baum wrote about, the land of Oz.”

Wreck-it Ralph Soundtrack Scores Big Game

Wreck-it Ralph PosterWe are getting more details today on the soundtrack for Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Wreck-it Ralph. Also, as of today, it’s available for pre-order from Amazon.com. From the trailers we’ve seen so far, the movie is going to tap into the collective love of retro arcade games. These games themselves are tied to a very specific musical landscape, I can’t wait to hear how it all plays out.

Wreck-it Ralph follows the journey of an arcade-game bad buy who embarks on a quest to prove he’s really a good guy. Along the way he travels through wildly diverse arcade-game worlds, including the ’80s-era, 8-bit video-game world of Fix-It Felix, Jr., the ultra-modern first-person shooter game Hero’s Duty and the candy-coated cart-racing game Sugar Rush. Helping to differentiate these worlds from one another are unique cinematography, animation, effects and music. “Music is another way to set the stage and make these worlds completely different,” said producer Clark Spencer.

But not just any music. Filmmakers tapped diverse and unexpected artists to help tell the story. Composer Henry Jackman created the film’s score, which is complemented by original songs and music from Skrillex, AKB48, Owl City and Buckner & Garcia. Directed by Rich Moore, produced by Spencer and featuring the voices of John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer and Jane Lynch, “Wreck-It Ralph” crashes into theatres on Nov. 2, 2012. The film’s soundtrack from Walt Disney Records will be available Oct. 30, 2012.
