Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD “Who We Really Are” Recap

JAIMIE ALEXANDER

This weeks episode did a great job of relieving some of the dark tone that the season has taken while still moving the overall story forward. We start by seeing Lady Sif, the Asgardian Warrior, wash up on shore with no memory. She doesn’t know who she is or why she is on Midgard; conveniently though, she does remember everything that she was taught as a child which will come in handy later. S.H.I.E.L.D. is called in and the team fly down to help. Sif is trying to find someone named “Kava” but when they figure out that the person their looking for is a Kree she realizes that “Kava” is not a person but the Kree word for “key.”

They find the place where Whitehall discovered the Diviner and capture the Kree, whose name is Vin-Tak. Vin-Tak is able to restore Sif’s memories with the same weapon he used to take them and they all have a heated discussion back at S.H.I.E.L.D. Apparently, the Teregensis was created by the Kree for the purpose of creating new soliders to fight in their war. It was largely a failure, except on Earth. Vin-Tak recently saw that one of the Dinviners was activated and has come to destroy it and the person who was changed.

The team assumes that he’s just talking about Raina, but the conversation got Skye worked up enough that she causes another small earthquake, revealing her change to everyone. Sif wants to take her back to Asgard where she will be safe and so will everyone else and Vin-Tak wants to destroy her. May tries to hide Skye and give her an impromptu lesson in controlling her emotions, but Sif finds them and Skye ends up taking May’s Icer and knocking herself out with it. Bobbi fights Vin-Tak and ends up using his memory weapon against him. Skye’s self-sacrifice convinces Sif to leave them alone for now and she takes the Kree back instead.Read More »Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD “Who We Really Are” Recap

Disney’s Live-Action Battle: Brandy’s 1997 ‘Cinderella’ vs. Lily James’ 2015 ‘Cinderella’

Editors Note: Please welcome new guest author Sabrina Jones:

CINDERELLA

The newest Disney movie coming to the big screen is ‘Cinderella’ as a live-action remake of the famous Disney animated film of the same name. The new ‘Cinderella’ stars Lily James (Wrath of the Titans, Downtown Abbey) as the title character, Richard Madden (Game of Thrones) as Prince Charming, Cate Blanchett (Lord of the Rings, Benjamin Button) as the deliciously evil stepmother Lady Tremain, and finally Helena Bonham Carter (Harry Potter, almost any Tim Burton film) as the newly re-designed Fairy Godmother.

This newest re-telling of the Cinderella story brings a new live-action, modern re-telling. Now lets take a trip down memory lane and realize that this is not the first time Disney has done a modern re-telling of a live-action Cinderella. In 1997, there was the updated Rodgers and Hammerstein ‘Cinderella’ made as a direct to TV movie for the ‘Wonderful World of Disney’ series. This version starred Brandy Norwood (Moesha) as Cinderella, Paolo Montalban (Mortal Kombat) as the Prince, Bernadette Peters (Broadway Goddess!) as the evil Stepmother, and Whitney Houston (no explanation needed) as the Fairy Godmother. Each of these films is quite different.

24-Hour Day Kicks off the “Coolest Summer Ever” at Walt Disney World

Sand Castle in the Snow Announces 24-Hour Event to Kick Off ÔCoolest Summer EverÕ at Walt Disney World Resort

Were you in downtown Boston this morning? If you passed by Faneuil Hall you may have seen the kickoff for Walt Disney World’s summer promotion – the “Coolest Summer Ever.” There is, of course, a Frozen theme and Olaf is the host.

To get the summer season kicked off, Walt Disney World will host its third 24-hour day on May 22-23 at the Magic Kingdom. Olaf will play host at the event.

To announce the 24-hour event and the cool summer season, Disney today brought to life a warm summer scene inspired by Olaf’s dream, creating a 20-foot-wide beach complete with a Cinderella Castle made of sand in the middle of winter-weary Boston.

Surprised pedestrians near historic Faneuil Hall were greeted by Olaf and joined by playful beach-goers in summer attire with beach chairs and beach balls – all reminders of an exciting season of fun ahead at Walt Disney World Resort and a welcome relief from the city’s near-record snowfall approaching nine feet.Read More »24-Hour Day Kicks off the “Coolest Summer Ever” at Walt Disney World
