Once Upon a Time 1-18: The Stable Boy

The big question of the season for me has been, what did Snow White do to Regina to make Regina hate her so much. That was finally answered last night. (And I really did think they’d hold that until season two.) It fits with the universe they’ve created, and I can understand much of what has come since. However, it was predictable. Which is probably why they focused more on Storybrooke.

What the story lacked in, well, story, it more than made up for in makeup and casting. They did a great job of giving us a younger version of Regina. And the actress they hired to play the young Snow White was amazing in how she captured the looks and mannerisms of Ginnifer Goodwin. If I didn’t know better, I would have said they used the regular actress, but the budget wouldn’t have covered the special effects needed to create her as a child.

And let’s start in Fairy Tale.

When we first see Regina, she is riding a horse and jumping over obstacles. Her father praises her, but then her mother appears and starts to berate her for not acting like a proper young lady. When Regina starts to argue, her mother starts using magic against her, first raising her off the ground and then squeezing her until she backs down.Read More »Once Upon a Time 1-18: The Stable Boy

Disneyland Matterhorn and Jolly Holiday Updates

  • by

My family and I visited the Disneyland Resort this past weekend and the crowds were study, but not overwhelming (relatively speaking, I mean it was pretty busy). There are some new t-shirts that I’ll feature in a later post, and the construction at DCA and Downtown Disney is coming along swimmingly.

In Disneyland the construction is mainly along Main Street and around the Matterhorn. The Jolly Holiday is open for business — and business is good (so is the food). Read More »Disneyland Matterhorn and Jolly Holiday Updates

Win a Family Four Pack of Tickets To The Great American Pie Festival Buffet

Are you the type of person who loves to eat pie and, if given the chance, would keep going back for more? Then you won’t want to miss the American Pie Council National Pie Championships at the Caribe Royal April 27-29. In addition to the pie championship, the event includes a two day Great American Pie Festival in nearby Celebration, FL the highlight of which is a Never Ending Pie Buffet April 28-29.

I went last year and it truly was amazing. Crowds were thick, but the atmosphere was fun as an astounding 87,000 slices of pie were served by America’s best known commercial bakers. Tickets for the Pie Buffet are $10 for adults and $5 for seniors over 65 and children under 5 to enjoy all they care of eat and drink. But the rest of the pie festival is free. Last year they had a car show and some amazing gourmet food booths set up. My advice is to show up early and avoid the hottest part of the day.

I have again been offered the chance to give away a family four pack of tickets to the Never Ending Pie Buffet. Please only enter this contest if you’re locals or know you’ll be in town on April 28th or 29th. To enter leave a comment with a valid email and your favorite flavor of pie on this post. One entry per household please. Deadline is Tuesday April 3rd at 5pm EST. Good luck.
