New clip from Disney’s Into the Woods

IntoTheWoods-cinderella-kendrick

The Stephen Sondheim musical “Into the Woods” features a modern look at beloved fairy tales, with a bit of a twist. This makes it perfect territory for Disney, which lately has been adding its own twist to fairy tales on both the big screen (Frozen, Tangled) and small (Once Upon A Time on ABC).

Here’s a new dark clip (literally dark since it happens at midnight) featuring a small bit of the song “Steps of the Palace” sung by Anna Kendrick as Cinderella.

(note entire song is available to listen to below the jump)

“Into the Woods” is a modern twist on several of the beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales, intertwining the plots of a few choice stories and exploring the consequences of the characters’ wishes and quests. This humorous and heartfelt musical follows the classic tales of Cinderella (Anna Kendrick), Little Red Riding Hood (Lilla Crawford), Jack and the Beanstalk (Daniel Huttlestone), and Rapunzel (MacKenzie Mauzy), all tied together by an original story involving a Baker and his Wife (James Corden and Emily Blunt), their wish to begin a family and their interaction with the Witch (Meryl Streep), who has put a curse on them.

Rob Marshall, the acclaimed filmmaker behind the Academy Award-winning musical “Chicago” and Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” directs the film, which is based on the Tony-winning original musical by James Lapine, who also penned the screenplay, and legendary composer Stephen Sondheim, who provides the music and lyrics.

“Into the Woods” will be released in theaters December 25, 2014. Will you be seeing it in theaters?

Disneynature’s Monkey Kingdom Trailer

monkeykingdom-1
Walt Disney was a pioneer in wildlife documentary filmmaking, producing 13 True Life Adventure motion pictures between 1948 and 1960, including “Seal Island” (1948), “Beaver Valley” (1950), “The Living Desert” (1953) and “Jungle Cat” (1958). Today, the Walt Disney Company continues that tradition under the Disneynature label.

The newest film in the series is “Monkey Kingdom.” It follows Maya, a blonde-bobbed monkey, through ancient ruins in the jungles of South Asia. Maya’s life changes when she welcomes a son and encounters a group of neighboring monkeys.

“Monkey Kingdom” is the sixth theatrical release for Disneynature. The label was launched in April 2008 to bring the world’s top nature filmmakers together to capture a variety of wildlife subjects and stories. The first five big-screen releases under the Disneynature label—“Earth,” “Oceans,” “African Cats,” “Bears” and “Chimpanzee”—are among the top six highest grossing feature-length nature films of all time.

For every ticket sold opening week (April 17-23, 2015), Disneynature will make a donation to Conservation International to help protect monkeys and other endangered species in their natural habitats.
