Food Truck Bazaar at Downtown Disney Delights

02-food-cover

Although Orlando’s gourmet food truck scene is not a stranger to the Walt Disney World property, the marquee Food Truck Bazaar event had never been held on property until last weekend. Disney has used food trucks at ESPN WWOS to help feed Soccer and Baseball fans, they’ve invited a few trucks in for weekend events at Downtown Disney, they even built four Disney-fied food trucks as permanent citizens of the shopping and entertainment complex. But they had never had an event dedicated just to the food truck scene.

Thankfully, Disney decided to partner with the class act that is the Food Truck Bazaar. They have great relationships with many of the over 75 food trucks that operate in Central Florida and know which ones will work the best in each location. Food Truck Bazaar also has its finger on the pulse of Central Florida’s foodies. That means they can bring the crowds and excitement that make an event like this a must see for anyone.

Of course, this being Disney, there were a couple of magic touches that I appreciated. In addition to the 14 food trucks, there were some drink stands, a lot of tables (although not quiet enough), and some roaming squads of entertainers. Here’s a short taste of the evening.

Magic Kingdom Central Plaza Project Update for June 2014

03-plaza-mk-2

As we have posted before, the Central Plaza, or hub, at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World is undergoing an update. The finished version will have more of a park like setting, with ample walking space to navigate around parades and shows, more outdoor dining seating, plus special viewing areas for fireworks and more.

Since our previous update Disney has added sand and earth to provide a way for construction vehicles to get to and from each side of the moat. At few more of the structures have been removed. Most of the progress has been made on the Crystal Palace side of the hub with extra dirt brought in to level the ground. There has also been some work on the paths around the entrance to Adventureland.

I do find it interesting that they’ve essentially given up trying to keep water out of the area on the Tomorrowland side. It may account for how slowly the project is progressing. But given all the rain in Central Florida, I’m not surprised.

Fastpass+ Sends Status Email

Just received my first Fastpass+ status change alert via email. I think this is pretty powerful customer service from Disney. What’s nice about this is I don’t have to do anything but show up at one of these locations and my Fastpass+ will be accepted… Read More »Fastpass+ Sends Status Email
