ABC conquers Country Music thanks to the CMA

Logo for the 2013 CMA Music Festival "Country's Night to Rock" TV Special

Last night ABC aired their annual “CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night To Rock” special to the biggest demo ratings they have had in 7 years, thus winning the night. This was a big win for ABC, as they special aired last year against “The Voice”, so moving it to August worked in their favor. The special was a 3 hour compilation of the biggest performances from the CMA Music Festival in Nashville this past June.

As a humongous country music fan, I watched every second. It made me love that this brought together my 2 favorite things: Disney (in the form of ABC) and Country Music. On Wednesday, November 6th at 8pm EST, the piece de resistance of the Disney/Country combo shows itself in the form of the CMA Awards, hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood.Read More »ABC conquers Country Music thanks to the CMA

Why “Trophy Wife” is THE show to watch this season

Trophy Wife

Malin Akerman stars in this new ABC comedy about wife coming into a household with an older man as a husband and kids from two previous marriages. “Trophy Wife” has been named that ironically according to the creators, as Malin’s character breaks that stereotype within the first episode.

Most media has already seen the pilot and reviews have been very good, with most saying it’s one of the best comedies this season. For me though, without even seeing the show, I know it will become my favorite because of the team behind it.

Bunheads Dances Off The Schedule for Good

Dancemoms, budding bunheads, plus fans of Gilmore Girls and the writing style of Amy Sherman-Palladino will be sad to hear that Disney has order the cancelation of the ABC Family show Bunheads after just one 18-episode season. The show had been on the bubble for… Read More »Bunheads Dances Off The Schedule for Good

DANIELLE FISHEL, ROWAN BLANCHARD, BEN SAVAGE

Hey “Boy Meets World” fans, Disney Channel has officially placed an order for episodes of “Girl Meets World,” the comedy series followup from the original series. Starring are 11-year-old Rowan Blanchard (“Spy Kids All the Time in World in 4D”) as the girl — Riley Matthews — 14-year-old Sabrina Carpenter (“Sofia the First” voice cast and a newly signed Hollywood Records recording artist) as her best friend Maya, and Danielle Fishel and Ben Savage reprising the “Cory and Topanga” roles they made famous in ABC’s hugely popular sitcom “Boy Meets World” (1993-2000).

Adam Bonnett, Executive Vice President, Original Programming, Disney Channels Worldwide said, “Boy Meets World’ and its story of adolescent self discovery resonated with an entire generation of tweens. ABC Family has a hot summer line-up…but what about Bunheads?!

UPDATE: Bunheads has received a very coveted 25% tax break from the State of California for a possible Season 2. This is a good sign for an announcement of a new season, but ABC Family has still said they are going to wait to see how their summer programs do.

ABC Family

ABC Family, now known for its teen and twenty-something programming that takes over social media nightly, is trying to mix it up…to a degree. This summer sees the channel bringing back some crazy big hits, some modest successes, and some new shows trying to mix up the formula we are used to.

Of course, Pretty Little Liars is returning for its summer season, so expect a LOT of tweeting. The show has taken over TV, Social Media and my high school, so look for some huge ratings to come from its premiere June 11th at 8pm. Right after is the premiere of Twisted, a new mystery drama about a guy who reconnects with his two best friends from his youth and the lead suspect of a murder at the same time.

Twisted

Wednesday nights are dedicated to comedy, with Baby Daddy returning for a second season and Melissa and Joey returning for a third and it has already been green lit for a 4th. The exciting thing about the 4th season of Melissa and Joey is that the show will be the first ever to reach 100 episodes on the network, which is key for future syndication. Catch Melissa and Joey at 8, Baby Daddy at 830. At 9 is the new show Dancing Fools, a hybrid of So You Think You Can Dance and America’s Funniest Home Videos. I expect a quick cancellation because It. Was. BAD!Read More »ABC Family has a hot summer line-up…but what about Bunheads?!
