If you didn’t hear the good news, “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” has been renewed for a 2nd season. I’m definitely looking forward to that. But first we have to get through what’s sure to be an amazing season finale. Disney has released a three minute… Read More »Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season Finale – 3 Minute Preview
Last week, after being ambushed by Col. Talbot, Coulson and Maria Hill lead the team on a quest to get to Ward before he can gain access to the information on Skye’s drive. Meanwhile, Skye is stalling as long as she can, which works well… Read More »Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD – Episode 21 “Ragtag” Preview
Last week’s episode was not the most action-packed episode. The focus seemed to be more on setting up the final four episodes. But, for critics who felt like there needed to be more Easter eggs (a criticism that I never fully understood), this was the… Read More »Agents of SHIELD episode 19 preview – The Only Light In The Darkness
When they said that no one can be trusted, they weren’t kidding. Last week, we got not one, but two betrayals. Overall, it was another great episode, though I’m very disappointed with what happened to Agent Hand. She’s a strong character in the comics and… Read More »Agents of SHIELD episode 18 preview – Providence
If no one has told you, Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD on ABC has gotten really good in the last few episodes. It seemed to start slow because they focused a lot of getting the audience emotionally involved in the core set of characters. Now that… Read More »Fall Out from Latest Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD Episode
When I left the theater on Saturday after watching “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” one of my first thoughts was, “What are Tuesday nights going to look like from now on?” Last week, it turns out, our team was right in the middle of the… Read More »Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. preview, episode 17 – Turn, Turn, Turn
This movie has cemented Captain America as my favorite Avenger. In a time when superheroes seem to be becoming more edgy and morally ambiguous, it is refreshing to see Cap fight for what’s right simply because it’s right.
The movie starts with Cap becoming more and more frustrated by the secrets that S.H.I.E.L.D. is keeping and when Fury reveals those secrets, Cap begins questioning what his role in S.H.I.E.L.D. should be.
The story is fast paced and, aside from the overuse of the shaky camera that has become prevalent in action movies, the action keeps you on the edge of your seat as do all of the twists that the movie takes. I’m glad that the identity of the Winter Soldier wasn’t the only twist to the movie (I’m very disappointed in Sitwell).
A couple of interesting Easter eggs that were hidden in the movie are the names Steven Strange and Sharon Carter. Strange, of course, is Dr. Strange and he’s movie has been in development for some time. Marvel president, Kevin Feige, responded to that name drop by saying, basically, that they know what the implications are but we don’t yet. And Sharon Carter, in the comics, is Peggy Carter’s niece, Agent 13 and Cap’s love interest.Read More »Captain America: The Winter Soldier Review (with Spoilers)
I’ll admit, I’m a big fan of Marvel. I’ll also admit that “Captain America: The First Avenger” isn’t one of my favorite Marvel movies.
With the release of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” however, Marvel not only has another hit on their hands, but firmly entrenches this Avenger as a major force to be reckoned with in the Marvel Universe.
Where the first movie introduced Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and his superhero alter ego’s origins, this movie takes place in a post-Avengers world. One which Rogers is not only trying to catch up with, but one in which he’s trying to find his place in.
As the movie opens, Captain America is now working for S.H.I.E.L.D., but he’s not totally comfortable with all the grey areas the organization likes to operate in. He has an uneasy working relationship with S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and fellow agent Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson), also known as Black Widow, and he’s highly suspicious of a new agency project that will neutralize potential threats before they happen.Read More »Captain America: The Winter Soldier Shows the Superhero In Fine Form
