One of my favorite entertainment elements at the Magic Kingdom is the “Move it, Shake it, Celebrate it Street Party.” The key word in that title is ‘street’ as unique to any parade, guests are invited into the street to dance with Disney characters and… Read More »Child clocked by Disney Dancer in Parade, Gets Black Eye
Over the weekend Merida became the 11th princess of Disney’s Royal Court and the first princess to come from a film not originating from the Walt Disney Animation Studios. Brave, of course, was a Pixar film and Merida was not just any Disney princess, but… Read More »Brave’s Merida Joined Disney’s Royal Princess Court in Special Coronation
Guests visiting Adventureland in the Magic Kingdom have begun to regularly encounter the opportunity to beta test the newest interactive attraction in the park — A Pirates Adventure: Treasure of the Seven Seas.
There are five maps to launch adventures with different variations. Each takes about 10 minutes to complete. So the pace is very quick. Of course, this is still early, that may change.
Here’s video from one of the families that were able to try it out:
The Progress City model has returned from a brief refurbishment at the Magic Kingdom. There was some hope that they would give the model some much needed TLC and perhaps restore some of the functionality, alas, it was really very little more than a light… Read More »Progress City Model Returns from Rehab
Entertainment is one the departments that is always delivering the magic at Walt Disney World. They make shows like Beauty and the Beast look fresh every day and wow thousands of people every night with Fantasmic! However, even their best efforts can not rescue the sad reality that is the current Celebrate a Dream Come True Parade, parts of which originally came from the Share a Dream parade in 2001. On some days the whole parade passes by guests in its entirety in less than 8 minutes. It’s not the fault of the cast members, they’re giving it their all, but they’re stuck with a lame duck of a parade that’s overstayed its welcome by a number of years.
Well good news, a new daytime parade, the Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade, will march into Magic Kingdom in spring 2014. Disney promises the parade will bring the magical stories of New Fantasyland to Main Street, U.S.A., through fantastic and innovative new parade floats, vibrant costumes, and an original soundtrack that will feature beloved songs from favorite Disney films, plus a new parade theme song.
Tonight Spaceship Earth transformed into “Monsters University” Star Mike Wazowski to help announce 24 hour events that will include special parties for the Magic Kingdom, Disneyland, and Disney California Adventure. Sully put in a brief ‘scary’ appearance too.
“This summer, Disney Parks are bursting with a monstrous lineup of new thrills, shows and happenings,” said Kalogridis. “Guests can start Memorial Day Weekend with a 24-hour-marathon of memory-making as three Parks stay open all day and all night to celebrate the bi-coastal kick-off of a Monstrous Summer at Disney Parks.”
Here’s a video featuring just Mike Wazowski:

Earlier this month, I posted a marvelous photo of Walt Disney standing on the steps of the Main Street Train Station in 1955 looking out into the present. The component parts of that picture came from a amazing collection of photos that capture how Disney… Read More »Disney Parks Then and Now
It’s been a while since we’ve had a chance to take a long stroll around the Magic Kingdom and snap some photos. Most of New Fantasyland may already be open, but there is a lot of work going on at the Mine Train and elsewhere in the park. There still have been no official opening dates for the Princess Fairytale Hall or the Mine Train. We’re hearing that the princess meet and greet has been pushed back. I hope that means they’re adding some upgrades.
Starting outside you can see that horizontal construction has begun on the new bus loop for the Magic Kingdom.
Larger buses will eventually be entering and exiting here. More buses should translate to easier connections to other Disney parks and the new Disney Springs
