High School Musical 4 – plans are underway!

The Hollywood Reporter quotes Disney Channel Worldwide chief Rich Ross as confirming that they are already working on the script for the fourth film in the franchise. Yep, you read that right. Rehearsals for filming have barely gotten underway on HSM3, but they’re obviously confident… Read More »High School Musical 4 – plans are underway!

Dancing with the Stars Week Four: The Waltz and the Paso

Heading into week four, we get to watch the stars dance either the Viennese Waltz or the Paso Doble. These always make for a fun combo. Hopefully tonight doesn’t disappoint.

Kristi Yamaguchi & Mark Ballas – Paso Doble – Well, if Kristi was going to work on her emotions, this was the week to do it. This dance is always more fun with some emotion. Again, she was technically perfect. But I felt she still had some work to do on her emotions. She did have more then one facial expression, but it still seemed a little stiff to me. Len agrees with me, but Bruno and Carrie Ann thought it was a huge step forward.

Scores: Carrie Ann – 10 Len – 9 Bruno – 10 Total – 29 That’s exactly what I expected from the comments. The first 10’s this season, and just barely off a perfect score. And we’re only on week four.

Disney’s Virtual Magic Kingdom (VMK) closing in May

Latest: Saving Disney’s Virtual Magic Kingdom – 4.15.08

May 21st, 2008 will mark the end of one very cool MMO game brought to you by Disney Online. Disney’s Virtual Magic Kingdom is wrapping up play and urging its players to join in on one of Disney’s other offerings. The only hitch, those games require pay-for-play to get full functionality.

Needless to say this is causing an uproar among the games fans who have invested time and effort in building their characters, rooms, and friends in VMK. VMKMagic.com has started a petition to save the game.

I’ve included the full notice of closure and faq from VMK’s newsletter below the cut

Disney’s growing Social Media efforts

Lee Aase attended a speech by Duncan Wardle, Sr VP Disney Global PR, on Disney Park’s social media efforts. It’s worth a read. This was a very interesting presentation. Tea Cup Fracas goes to Trial

One of my favorite sayings about people on vacation at a Disney theme park is: “There’s no worse thing than a child scorned at Disney World… especially when that child is an adult.” The alleged facts of a May 2007 incident that left one woman… Read More »Tea Cup Fracas goes to Trial

The Coming 3D Movie Wave

Chicken Little, Nightmare Before Chrismas, and Meet The Robinsons were all released on Disney Digital 3D. But it took Hannah Montana to propel the technology to new heights and set Box Office records while doing it. Fortune magazine looks at the craze, the competing technologies,… Read More »The Coming 3D Movie Wave

Dream Chief Magical Official Final Three Announced

Although as of publishing time this morning the regular website hasn’t yet been updated, Brady MacDonald at the LA Times has posted the final three qualifiers for the ultimate Disney Dream position of Chief Magical Official.

The finalists are: David Hawley of California, Justin Muchoney of Pennsylvania and Tripp West of Georgia.

While none of those were my favorites, I wish them all luck as they enter the head-to-head competition portion of the contest. They’ll all travel to Walt Disney World and compete in such challenging events as:

Stroller mix-up — Match the stroller with the correct accessory bag.

Towel folding — Create a towel animal following a training session.

Noise making — Generate the loudest crowd reaction.

Park information — Offer assistance, directions and tips to visitors.

Face painting — Create a design following a training session.

Voting will then be opened to the public again and a winner crowned on April 22nd. (Why did they choose that day… it’s the anniversary of Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Earth Day. The Dream CMO position has nothing to do with either of those events and will either get buried or take away from the other events. Poor planning on someone’s part.)
