The rumors of a new restaurant opening in the old Adventureland Veranda have been going on for half a decade (if not longer). It hosted the occasional quick service test, was remodeled to host character meet and greets, including most recently Tinker Bell and her… Read More »Adventureland Veranda Restaurant at Magic Kingdom to Reopen with New Theme
We’re back with our latest update from Downtown Disney as it transforms into Disney Springs. There are 30 photos and a great video in this mega-update.
New stores including: Chapel (hats), Apex (sunglasses), the Art of Shaving, and a few signs for as yet unopened stores are now on most of the store fronts in The Landing area. I’m not sure any shave is worth $55. But if you want one, The Art if Shaving will be glad to service you.
We recently profiled the newly activated parking garage spot finder system. Work on the second garage is just getting started. There are also three new dining locations in progress, The Boat House is looking nearly finished (outside at least), The Hangar is finally being enclosed, and serious remodeling is underway at the future Morimoto ASIA location.
Not clearly on the video is the progress on the parking garage, the work they’re doing to add off-ramps from Lake Buena Vista drive directly into the parking garage, and work going on in a few areas currently off-limits to guests that will be brand new shopping and dining areas added to Downtown Disney.
Can’t watch the video, I have 30 photos from my recent walk around Downtown Disney are below:
For Disney fans, there’s nothing more romantic than a trip for two to the most magical place on earth, Walt Disney World. But what are some of the specific activities you can do together that will make your Valentine’s Day, or any day, that much more magical.
With over 40-square miles you have a lot of options, but we’ve tried to narrow it down to the ten best.
The Couple that ‘Spas’ Together… – What’s more enjoyable than a luxurious spa treatment? Imagine sharing it with that special someone. The new Senses – A Disney Spa at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort or Senses – A Disney Spa at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort, both feature a “couples room” where guests can enjoy specialized spa treatments – such as massages and facials – with the one they love.
Make like Aladdin and Jasmine – Fly through the sky with your special someone on an adventurous tandem parasail over Bay Lake. Those looking to soar to new heights can spend 10 minutes soaring high above Disney and get a bird’s-eye view of Magic Kingdom and its neighboring resorts. Contact Sammy Duvall’s Watersports Centre at Disney’s Contemporary Resort for reservations for a tandem flight.
Sunset in the Sky – A very different kind of flight is aboard a tethered balloon rising gently into the Florida sky. Located on the waterfront at Downtown Disney, Characters in Flight gives romantics a chance to take their love to new heights. Operating daily, the giant balloon provides breathtaking sights from 400 ft. up in the air with an unparalleled, 360-degree view of the Vacation Kingdom and beyond. Flights take place between 8:30 a.m. and midnight (weather permitting) and last approximately 8-10 minutes. Romantics who time their flight to sunset or fireworks bursting above the parks are in for a special treat. Tickets can be purchased at Downtown Disney West Side; tickets are $12.00 per child and $18.00 per adult.Read More »Top 10 Options for Lovebirds on Valentine’s Day at Walt Disney World
from Instagram. The carrot cake cookie at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is one of my favorite treats in the entire resort. Two slices of delicious cake shaped like a cookie and a cream cheese frosting filling. It’s soft, gooey goodness any time of year. What do… Read More »Instapic: Carrot Cake Cookie
Construction on the new Starbucks location coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios is making some real progress. Not only does the location have a name “The Trolley Car Cafe”, it has a new sign (the Starbucks logo is covered up by that brown cover). It looks like you’ll be able to order those Venti Mochas pretty soon.
I’m a little saddened by the decision to close the door at the exit of Celebrity 5 & 10 on Hollywood Blvd. That will cut off one of the very few ways around the parade route for guest pedestrian traffic. Of course, they don’t currently do a parade very often. I hope that changes though.
Thanks to a small gap in the paper covering the windows we were able to get a preview of what the interior looks like. It looks a little under-stated to me. Yes, it’s not finished, so we’ll give them the benefit of the doubt here. Read More »Starbucks Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios Soon
We can add one more restaurant to the list of new dining experiences officially announced for Disney Springs. STK will open in The Landing area of the shopping, dining, and entertainment complex soon to be formerly known as Downtown Disney. The Landing is expected to… Read More »STK, high concept steakhouse, coming to Disney Springs
Over the years a family holiday vacation to Walt Disney World has developed into a tradition for many families. Thanksgiving is an especially popular time to visit Walt Disney World with the family because the weather is usually still pretty nice for Central Florida and all the Christmas decorations are out.
But if you decide to visit Walt Disney World during the traditional Thanksgiving week, where can you indulge in some of that traditional Thanksgiving feast. Don’t worry, Disney has you covered with a variety of Thanksgiving lunch and dinner offerings.
Special holiday menus include roasted turkey breast with all the trimmings plus traditional Norwegian meatballs and pan-seared salmon at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall, poppy seed lavash, house-made naan, and apple-cranberry achar at Sanaa, roasted heirloom beets with candied walnuts and mulled apple cider at Artist Point, and other unique dishes to enjoy with the holiday classics.
At Epcot, guests can dine on Thanksgiving menus during lunch and dinner seatings at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall, Biergarten Restaurant, Coral Reef Restaurant, Le Cellier Steakhouse, and Rose & Crown Pub, as well as quick service at Sunshine Seasons.
Holiday menus also are offered at Be Our Guest Restaurant and Tony’s Town Square Restaurant in Magic Kingdom, Hollywood & Vine and The Hollywood Brown Derby in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Tusker House Restaurant in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. And, of course, the Liberty Tree Tavern in the Magic Kingdom offers traditional turkey and good fixings all year round as part of their regular dinner menu.
I’m realizing that when I wrote my Disney’s Hollywood Studios rumored futureposts, I left off Disney Springs from the list of projects under development. And then, of course, Disney comes out and confirms two new properties from Disney Springs making me look bad.
As it turns out I was just at Downtown Disney checking in on the construction progress. There’s some significant improvements in a few areas, and even two new shops that have opened. I took a bunch of video and pictures before it got too dark, so I have a second October update to share today:
More photos and some speculation on what shops and restaurants might be coming to Disney Springs below the jump:
