Guardians of the Galaxy Behind the Scenes: Inside Star Lord’s spaceship – the Milano

Like in Star Wars, it might be claimed that the real star of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy are its space ships. The Milano is to Peter Quill as the Millennium Falcon is to Han Solo. It’s his trusty steed and contains precious cargo.

It is versatile enough to operate in a dog fight, yet large enough to carry the team into danger. Director James Gunn wanted it to have a “muscle car” feel. I love its retro-vibe

Yeah, so that owes a lot to MTV’s Cribs. Here’s a little bit of trivia. Director James Gunn confirmed, via twitter, that the ship is called the Milano after Alyssa Milano, Peter Quill’s childhood crush. That’s just another awesome detail that makes this movie fantastic!

Of the Milano, Gunn had this to say on his Facebook page:

Guardians of the Galaxy Easter Eggs

A few days before Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy stormed into theaters, Wired Magazine featured a video with quite a few Marvel Easter Eggs explained from “Iron Man” all the way to “Thor: The Dark World,” because those are the Marvel movies that have been out on DVD. I love all the Stan Lee cameos.

Back in 2010, “Alice in Wonderland” was a fanciful wonder on screen and at the box office for Disney pulling in more than one billion dollars. In fact, that might be considered the last time Johnny Depp had a real box office blockbuster. Depp is returning to play the Mad Hatter in “Alice In Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass.” So let’s all hope for a return to 2010 when it comes to his star power at the box office.

The sequel will revisit Lewis Carroll’s beloved stories with an all-new new tale that travels back to Underland—and back in Time. “Alice In Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass” is produced by the returning team of Joe Roth, Jennifer Todd, Suzanne Todd, and Tim Burton. John G. Scotti is the executive producer; Linda Woolverton (“Maleficent,” “Alice In Wonderland,”) penned the screenplay.

The gang, as they say, has been brought back together for the cast:

  • Johnny Depp (“Pirates of the Caribbean” films, “Alice In Wonderland,”) returns to the big screen as the Mad Hatter—Hatter Tarrant Hightopp.
  • Anne Hathaway (“Les Misérables,” “Alice In Wonderland,”) portrays the White Queen—Mirana.
  • Mia Wasikowska (“Jane Eyre” and “Alice In Wonderland”) once again appears as Alice Kingsleigh, who’s on a quest to help the Mad Hatter.
  • Helena Bonham Carter ( “Les Misérables,” “Alice In Wonderland”) returns as the Red Queen—Iracebeth.
  • Rhys Ifans (“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I,” “The Amazing Spider-Man”) fills the shoes of Zanik Hightopp, the Mad Hatter’s father.
  • Matt Lucas (“Alice In Wonderland”) returns to the revelry in a dual role as Tweedledee and Tweedledum.
  • Ed Speleers (TV’s “Downton Abbey,” “Eragon”) portrays James Harcourt in the film.
  • And Sacha Baron Cohen (“Hugo,” “Les Misérables”) was called on to bring Time to the big screen.

“Alice In Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass” also boasts an extraordinary voice cast:
