Chris grew up during the Disney renaissance of animation and took his first trip to Disney World when he was ten. Even though he has loved Disney his whole life, his obsession didn't start until he began planning a trip for his honeymoon. Right now, his primary job (at least the one that doesn't pay the bills) is to indoctrinate his daughter with his love of Disney while at the same time convincing his wife to move to Orlando so he can become a tour guide in the parks.
He can also be found indulging in his nerdy side (both Disney related and otherwise) at nerdintherealworld.wordpress.com.

This weeks episode began with Cal, just as mentally unstable as ever, recruiting various gifted, or rather enhanced, people from S.H.I.E.L.D.’s index. His goal hasn’t changed, take down Coulson and S.H.I.E.L.D., but now he’s enlisting the help of a computer genius, a mob enforcer who used chemistry to make himself even stronger and a woman who seems to be just as unstable as Cal as she has permanently attached blades to her finger nails after a bad break up.
The team of baddies head to a mental institution to break out the final member of their group, a man who has the ability to case people to go catatonic with just a whisper. Coulson and Bobbie go investigate the breakout, which leads them to Coulson’s hometown, Manitowoc, Wisconsin. How Cal found out this was Coulson’s home is beyond me. But he’s setting a trap for our favorite S.H.I.E.L.D. director. Coulson realizes this and calls May for back up.
What has May and the rest of the team been doing this whole time? Because Skye is now listed on the Index, she has to go through a psych evaluation, which means calling in an outside consultant to administer it. Coulson wants to bring in Andrew Garner and May reluctantly agrees. Why is she reluctant? Because Andrew is her ex-husband, a fact that greatly interests Skye when she finds out. Fitz and Simmons are equally as interested, which serves to bring them back together as a team after Fitz lied to Simmons about Skye’s powers.
May gets the call from Coulson and the bus heads to Wisconsin, with everyone on board. There is then an argument as to how much of a role Skye should play in apprehending her father. They decide to try and bluff Cal into surrendering by allowing May to put a gun to Skye head. This whole time Skye has begun to get her powers under control, she’s learning to push her emotions away, though Andrew makes the point that she’s not pushing them away, just internalizing them.Read More »Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D recap – One of Us
Not a lot of news around the Galaxy these days, but what it lacks in quantity, it certainly makes up for in quality. Recapping the news from Thursday, Star Wars Episode VIII has a release date. Bob Iger announced this week at the annual shareholders… Read More »Star Wars News Round Up
This weeks episode did a great job of relieving some of the dark tone that the season has taken while still moving the overall story forward. We start by seeing Lady Sif, the Asgardian Warrior, wash up on shore with no memory. She doesn’t know who she is or why she is on Midgard; conveniently though, she does remember everything that she was taught as a child which will come in handy later. S.H.I.E.L.D. is called in and the team fly down to help. Sif is trying to find someone named “Kava” but when they figure out that the person their looking for is a Kree she realizes that “Kava” is not a person but the Kree word for “key.”
They find the place where Whitehall discovered the Diviner and capture the Kree, whose name is Vin-Tak. Vin-Tak is able to restore Sif’s memories with the same weapon he used to take them and they all have a heated discussion back at S.H.I.E.L.D. Apparently, the Teregensis was created by the Kree for the purpose of creating new soliders to fight in their war. It was largely a failure, except on Earth. Vin-Tak recently saw that one of the Dinviners was activated and has come to destroy it and the person who was changed.
The team assumes that he’s just talking about Raina, but the conversation got Skye worked up enough that she causes another small earthquake, revealing her change to everyone. Sif wants to take her back to Asgard where she will be safe and so will everyone else and Vin-Tak wants to destroy her. May tries to hide Skye and give her an impromptu lesson in controlling her emotions, but Sif finds them and Skye ends up taking May’s Icer and knocking herself out with it. Bobbi fights Vin-Tak and ends up using his memory weapon against him. Skye’s self-sacrifice convinces Sif to leave them alone for now and she takes the Kree back instead.Read More »Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD “Who We Really Are” Recap
The back half of this season starts shortly after the front half ended. Skye is in quarantine until they can confirm that she’s OK. Simmons is back down in the temple getting it prepped to be destroyed, Coulson is ready to take out Hydra once and for all and everyone is mourning Tripp’s death in their own way. We then cut to the heads of Hydra who have come together to decide who will replace Whitehall. The original idea was to have Bakshi take over because he was being groomed for the role, but he’s missing (actually he’s in SHIELD custody). They decide that whoever can take down SHIELD will take Whitehall’s place.
Back at SHIELD, cracks are beginning to form in our team as Mack and Coulson butt heads which leads to a team wide argument that reminded me of a similar scene in The Avengers. The only thing missing was Loki’s glow stick of destiny. Eventually, the team calms down and Coulson begins to enact his plan to take down Hydra.
Meanwhile, Raina has escaped from the temple, but not before killing a few agents and being shot at by Simmons. She finds Cal and confronts him about her transformation. She doesn’t like her thorny new look but Cal has little sympathy, especially after discovering that Skye has been transformed as well and gone back to Coulson. He leaves Raina, telling her that he’s thinking about reconnecting with some of his friends that SHIELD has on their index in order to get revenge on Coulson and get his daughter back.
Coulson and his team have agreed to a prisoner exchange, offering Bakshi up to General Talbot and the U.S. Government, but on their way to drop him off, they are attacked. May and Coulson are both shot and a getaway car rides up to take Bakshi away. However, the whole thing is a set up. May and Coulson aren’t dead and the person driving the getaway car is Hunter. Hunter ends up taking Bakshi to the house where the Hydra leaders met. The real plan is then revealed causing all of the heads of Hydra to kill each other leaving no one left in charge. Of course, Hydra will rise again (Baron Von Strucker will show up on May 1, for example) but in one fell swoop, the writers of the show essentially said, “We’re not focusing on Hydra for the rest of the season. Now we’re focusing on the Inhumans.”Read More »Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. S2-E11 recap: Aftershocks
This week’s episode finds Peggy, Jarvis, Thomson and Sousa investigating the incident at the movie theater. Sousa finds the canister and accidently sprays himself with the gas. He sees Thomson and immediately tries to kill him. Fortunately, Sousa is quickly knocked out. Back at the S.S.R. everyone is trying to figure out what the gas is until Howard Stark shows up to explain everything.
The gas was meant to give soldiers the ability to stay awake longer, but something went wrong and instead, it quickly gives the person the affects of sleep deprivation, like anger and psychosis. That’s what happened in Finow. It was secretly used on the Russians soldiers to give them an advantage in battle, but they ended up killing themselves. Stark blames himself for what happened, but he isn’t the only one.
There was one survivor, Dr. Ivenchenko, and he is out for revenge on Howard. We also discover that his real name is Johann Fennoff who, in the comics, is Doctor Faustus. He proclaims himself the “Master of Men’s Minds” and uses hypnosis to defeat his enemies, though not with a ring. Stark comes up with a plan to lure Fennoff and Dottie out into the open, but it fails, ending with Stark being captured instead.
Fennoff begins to hypnotize Howard. Stark now believes that he has found Captain America and is going to retrieve him in hopes of redemption. Fennoff has planted the canisters of gas in Stark’s plane and when Stark lets them drop over New York, he will be responsible for the destruction of the city Hoping to lure Fennhoff out into the open, Howard volunteers to act as bait and holds a press conference.
Following on the villains’ heels is Peggy, Jarvis, Thomson and Sousa. Thomson and Sousa take down Fennoff while Peggy throws Dottie out of a window. Jarvis then takes off in a plane following Stark. He will be the one to pull the trigger if Peggy can’t snap Howard out of his hypnosis. Read More »Marvel’s Agent Carter season finale wrap up
This week’s episode starts right where last week’s left off, with Peggy in the custody of the S.S.R. and under interrogation.
