AMC Theatres Special Disney+ Day 2022 Screenings

Select AMC Theatres will celebrate Disney+ Day 2022 with screenings of fan-favorite Disney movies at a special price.


The Details

From September 8-19, 2022, select AMC Theatres will celebrate Disney+ Day with screenings of fan-favorite movies from the Disney catalog.

Tickets are $5 per person, per screening, and are available to the general public. All attendees will also receive a free Disney+ poster, while supplies last

A special concessions offer will be available only for Disney+ subscribers, so you may have to sign in to your account on the Disney+ app on your phone as proof.


The Movies

There are a nice variety of titles that have been selected for these screenings, and they are:


Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Encanto”

This animated hit film follows a multigenerational Colombian family, the Madrigals, led by a matriarch whose children and grandchildren receive magical gifts from a miracle that helps them serve the people in their rural community called the Encanto.

When Mirabel, the only one without magic, learns that the family is losing their magic, she sets out to find out what is happening, and save her family and their magical house.

With original songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the film stars the voices of Stephanie Beatriz, María Cecilia Botero, John Leguizamo, Mauro Castillo, Jessica Darrow, Angie Cepeda, Carolina Gaitán, Diane Guerrero, and Wilmer Valderrama.

Encanto - family

LucasFilm’s “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”

This key film in the “Star Wars” timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves, as they steal the plans for the Death Star so the Rebellion can destroy it.

The main cast consists of Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, Jiang Wen, and Forest Whitaker.

It is currently showing in select IMAX theaters, but will return for this special showing.

The film’s prequel series, “Andor,” debuts on Disney+ on September 21.

Rogue One - cast

Marvel Studios’ “Thor: Ragnarok”

This is the third solo outing for the Asgardian god known as Thor, who must battle his elder sister Hela, also known as the Goddess of Death, to save Asgard from both her and Ragnarok.

Directed by Taika Waititi, from a screenplay by Eric Pearson, this 2017 film stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor alongside Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson, Karl Urban, Mark Ruffalo, and Anthony Hopkins.

Its sequel, “Thor: Love and Thunder,” debuts on Disney+ September 8.


Disney and Pixar’s “Cars”

Released in 2006, “Cars” is set in a world populated entirely by anthropomorphic talking cars and other vehicles. It follows a hotshot rookie race car who, on the way to the biggest race of his life, gets stranded in a run down town and learns a thing or two about friendship, family, and the things in life that are truly worth waiting for.

The film stars the voices of Owen Wilson, Paul Newman (in his final voice acting theatrical film role), Bonnie Hunt, Larry the Cable Guy, Tony Shalhoub, Cheech Marin, Michael Wallis, George Carlin, Paul Dooley, Jenifer Lewis, Guido Quaroni, Michael Keaton, Katherine Helmond, John Ratzenberger, and Richard Petty.

Cars on the Road,” the latest series in the “Cars” franchise, debuts on Disney+ on September 8

Walt Disney Pictures’ “Newsies”

This 1992 American musical historical comedy-drama film produced by Walt Disney Pictures and directed by choreographer Kenny Ortega in his film directing debut, is loosely based on the New York City Newsboys’ Strike of 1899.

It stars Christian Bale, Bill Pullman, Ann-Margret, and Robert Duvall, and features twelve original songs by Alan Menken with lyrics by Jack Feldman.

Ticket On Sale Date

Tickets for these Disney+ Day showings will go on sale on September 1, 2022 online at AMCTheatres.com and at the individual theater’s box office.

AMC Stubs and A+ List members will have the online ticket fees waved.
