Disney/Pixar Unveil ‘Cars on the Road’ Trailer and Disney+ Debut Date

Cars on the Road

Disney and Pixar have finally released both a first trailer, and a debut date, for the upcoming “Cars on the Road” series on Disney+.

The Series

“Cars on the Road” follows Lightning McQueen (voiced by Owen Wilson) and his best friend, Mater (voiced by Larry the Cable Guy), as they head east from Radiator Springs on a cross-country road trip to meet up with Mater’s sister for her wedding.

“The series is a romp across the country with Lightning McQueen and Mater,” says director Steve Purcell. “Like any real road trip, every day is a new mini-adventure with unexpected twists and turns.”

There will be nine episodes total to the series.

“Cars on the Road” is produced by Marc Sondheimer. Episodes are directed by Steve Purcell (Episodes 1, 2, and 8), Bobby Podesta (Episodes 5, 6, and 9), and Brian Fee (Episodes 3, 4, and 7).

Composer Jake Monaco created the score for all nine episodes.

The Trailer

The first trailer for “Cars on the Road” features a highlight of the duo’s road adventures, which include dino-trucks, a circus, a “Mad Max” escapade, and even some kind of Haunted Mansion.

“All the bumps along the road…that’s what makes life worth living,” ruminates Mater in the trailer.

The Debut Date

“Cars on the Road” was first announced on Disney+ Day 2021, so it’s fitting that it will debut on the streamer on Disney+ Day 2022, which is September 8.

The series page is already up at Disney+ so you can save it to your watchlist.

The Poster

Along with the trailer, Disney and Pixar have released a poster highlighting Lightning and Mater, along with some of their adventures.
