Avatar sequel gets extra shiny with casting of Jemaine Clement

Jemaine Clement has been cast in the Avatar sequels as Dr. Garvin, a marine biologist on Pandora. Clement hails from New Zealand, where the live action elements of the first two sequels are currently shooting, and found his initial fame in the comedy series “Flight of the Conchords.” Disney fans will know him as the voice of Tamatoa, a giant coconut crab, in Disney’s animated feature “Moana.” He currently portrays Oliver Bird on the FX series “Legion,” which is now under the Disney umbrella as well.

Say what you will about the Avatar sequels… the big Hollywood names they’re attracting to the project indicates something special is in the works. New cast members include Kate Winslet, Edie Falco, Michelle Yeoh, Jemaine Clement, David Thewlis, and Vin Diesel. Much of the cast from the original movie is returning as well.
