Picking the Right Resort for your Disney World Vacation

If deciding where to stay on Disney property were as simple as sticking to your budget, you’d book a value room and be done with it. After all, they’re clean, comfortable, and give you all the benefits of staying on Disney property while still being kind to your wallet. Unfortunately, it’s not that simple. Staying at a Disney resort is half the fun of visiting Walt Disney World, with each resort offering a unique feeling and experiences that make choosing downright difficult. Need a little help in deciding where to stay next time? Then try the following suggestions:

1. Set a budget within your comfort zone. Sure, you can probably swing $3500 for a week at the Grand Floridian, but how does that make you feel? If it makes you feel uncomfortable, it’s not the right resort for you even if you can afford it. The nice thing about staying within your budget is that it allows you to potentially say yes to a lot of other things, whether its tickets to a holiday party, a toy your child wants, or a big dinner at a signature restaurant. 3D Disneyland Paris Flyover Courtesy Google Earth

Quick question. Does anyone still use Google Earth for anything other than school lessons? Short of augmented or virtual reality, which are still not quite ready for primetime, I can’t think of any practical application. But I can appreciate the beauty of the technology. There… Read More »3D Disneyland Paris Flyover Courtesy Google Earth

Castle 5-14: Reality Star Struck

One thing I love about Castle is the ability the writers and the cast have to go from drama to comedy and back again without missing a beat. Last week? Very serious drama. Next week? Looks like the first half of the annual two parter is going to be high stakes suspense. (I’m already dreading the cliffhanger.) But this week? Pure comedy gold. Granted, most of the comedy came from the sub-plots, but the mystery was light and fluffy as well.

Before we get to the episode, let’s discuss guest star Gina Torres, who co-starred with Nathan Fillion on Firefly. I was only a marginal fan of that show, so did I miss any references to it? I know Gina better for her amazing work on Suits on the USA Network. This character, one of the wives of Wall Street, was so different from her character on that show, and she was amazing here.  (Not that I was expecting anything less.)Read More »Castle 5-14: Reality Star Struck

Once Upon a Time 2-13: Tiny

After two weeks, we’re back. Back to the magic. Back to the intrigue. And back to Storybrooke. So gather round because we’ve got a tale of giants to weave.

The flashback portion of the episode revolved around Anton, the giant we meant earlier this season as played by Jorge Garcia. When we first see him, he is late to dinner and trying to deal with his life as the runt of his giant brothers. They are excited because the bean harvest is almost ready. Anton wonders why they continue to grow magic beans since they don’t give them to anyone and don’t travel to other realms, but he is told they are giants – that’s what they do.Read More »Once Upon a Time 2-13: Tiny

Our February Master Tweeter is…

We had a great time this past Friday tweeting about Tangled. Lots of laughs and re-tweets happened over the course of the 100 minute movie. It was tough to make a decision, but this month’s Master Tweeter is… I feel like she should brush her… Read More »Our February Master Tweeter is…

Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Hints from Game Creator

I’ll admit it’s been a while since I’ve played Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom. It’s not that I don’t enjoy the game, but just that with shorter off-season hours, I don’t get to the property as much and when I do, I have other things to do when I am there (EPCOT’s 30th took a big chunk of my energy and time for one). I’m also a little disappointed that the game really hasn’t evolved any from its debut. No new portals, no new villains, and only two new spell cards. Plus there was the whole 61-70 card money grab by merchandising. The whole project started to stink a bit.

That said, I do intend to get back in the game and also to see if I can re-interest my son in playing again as well. If you’re still involved, or hoping to get involved in SotMK, then you’ll be interested in some inside tips shared with the Disney Parks blog by Imagineer and game creator Jonathan Ackley.Read More »Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Hints from Game Creator

Disney Asks State to Ban Texting and Driving

Disney gets involved in a lot of lobbying within Florida and in D.C., but it’s usually related to travel or employment issues. Their latest outreach effort is a bit of a stretch, but there is a connection to safe driving and tourism in Central Florida.… Read More »Disney Asks State to Ban Texting and Driving
