Recap Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. – Afterlife

CHLOE BENNET, LUKE MITCHELL

Man, what an episode this week! Definitely one of the best of the season. Surprise guests and multiple twists abound, so let’s get to it.

Skye has been taken to a haven for people like her (a.k.a. Inhumans) where she meets Lincoln, who helps transition her body into her new powers and gives us more information about the mythology that surrounds the Inhumans. Most people who are at the haven, what they call Afterlife, have not been through Teregenesis, so they don’t have powers, just the potential for them. There is a long process that everyone goes through and a long line of people waiting to go through it. Skye has, essentially, cut to the front of the line so many of them give her strange looks.

Though originally told that Raina and Cal are not at Afterlife, Skye eventually discovers that they are and goes to confront Raina. The two meet and a fight almost ensues, but it is broken up by the woman who has decided to become Skye’s trainer. Who is this woman? Skye’s mom. You know, the lady who Whitehall dissected earlier this season and we saw her in pieces? Somehow, she’s come back and she has the scars to prove it. But that’s not the only surprise guest this week.

Meanwhile, Coulson and Hunter are still on the run. They end up at the safe house where they kept Skye and Coulson feels out of options. With only bad options left, he makes two calls. One alerting Gonzales to their location and one calling for back up. I assumed his back up was May, but I was so wrong. His goal is obtaining a Quinjet.Read More »Recap Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. – Afterlife

ABC has announced its summer lineup, with four new series joining the schedule: “500 Questions” on Wednesday, May 20 at 8:00 p.m.; “The Whispers” on Monday, June 1 at 10:01 p.m. and “Celebrity Family Feud” on Sunday, June 21 at 8:00 p.m., followed by “BattleBots” on Sunday, June 21 at 9:00 p.m. on the ABC Television Network.

These series join returning shows “The Bachelorette,” which premieres Monday, May 18 at 9:00 p.m.; “Celebrity Wife Swap” on Wednesday, May 20 at 10:00 p.m.; “Extreme Weight Loss” on Tuesday, May 26 at 9:00 p.m.; “Mistresses,” with a special two-hour premiere on Thursday, June 18 at 9:00 p.m.; “Rookie Blue” on Thursday, June 25 at 10:00 p.m.; and a two-night premiere of “Bachelor in Paradise” on Sunday, August 2 at 8:00 p.m. and on Monday, August 3 at 8:00 p.m.

I’m most excited about the revival of “BattleBots.” That was a great show the first time around. STEM focused and with great stories. The returning shows all did pretty well for ABC last summer, but the only one I’ll be watching is “Extreme Weight Makeover,” again for the great stories.

ABC’s summer premiere dates are as follows listed in chronological order (all times are ET/PT):

Monday, May 18

9:01-11:00 p.m.                       “The Bachelorette”

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD Recap – One Door Closes

one door closes 1

This week we went back to the events of Captain America: Winter Soldier to see what Bobbi, Mack and their team were doing the day that S.H.I.E.L.D. fell. They, along with Agent Hartley, are on the air craft carrier, Iliad, in search of Gonzales. It was nice to see Lucy Lawless again. I’m glad they brought her back.

After finding him (and convincing him that they aren’t Hydra), Bobbi reveals that she was given a second mission from Fury (like Natasha in Winter Soldier). She’s been tasked with sinking the ship, destroying the cargo in the process. Realizing that this is a one-way mission, Mack and the rest of the team decide to join her before ultimately deciding to take back the ship instead of destroying it.

Back in the present, Coulson finally lets Mack take a look under Lola’s hood, but for the purpose of confronting him because Coulson suspects him to be a mole. Through the conversation, Coulson figures out that Bobbi is a mole as well. This revelation leads to a fantastic fight scene between May and Bobbi over Fury’s Toolbox.

Bobbi loses to May, but not before she uses an EMP to shut down S.H.I.E.L.D.’s power.Read More »Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD Recap – One Door Closes

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. recap – 2×14: Love in the Time of Hydra

aos 2

This week’s episode was full of revelations and putting are characters where they need to be for the rest of the season.

The main storyline followed Ward and Agent 33. The episode begins with them at a diner. We think they’re going to rob it, but they’re actually looking for the person who can fix the mask on 33’s face. He is able to fix the broken part, but is unable to take the mask off. Throughout the episode you can tell that Agent 33 has developed feelings for Ward, especially when she uses her mask to look like Skye in an attempt to seduce him. Ward picks up on it as well and uses it to his advantage.

Together, they infiltrate the place where Bakshi is being held and break him out. But they don’t want to free him. Ward wants 33 to get her revenge on Bakshi by making him go under the compliance program himself. Of course, that’s just what Ward said. I’m still convinced that he has some other plan up his sleeve.

Meanwhile, Coulson and his team are still trying to figure out what to do with Skye. Andrew’s recommendation last episode was for her to leave S.H.I.E.L.D. but Coulson doesn’t want to do that just yet. Instead, he and Skye head out to one of Fury’s safe houses. There she will be able to rest, relax and maybe begin to get a grip on her powers. She is given a pair of gloves, designed by Simmons, that should help repress her powers, but with some mysterious side effects.Read More »Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. recap – 2×14: Love in the Time of Hydra

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D recap – One of Us

image

This weeks episode began with Cal, just as mentally unstable as ever, recruiting various gifted, or rather enhanced, people from S.H.I.E.L.D.’s index.  His goal hasn’t changed, take down Coulson and S.H.I.E.L.D., but now he’s enlisting the help of a computer genius, a mob enforcer who used chemistry to make himself even stronger and a woman who seems to be just as unstable as Cal as she has permanently attached blades to her finger nails after a bad break up.

The team of baddies head to a mental institution to break out the final member of their group, a man who has the ability to case people to go catatonic with just a whisper. Coulson and Bobbie go investigate the breakout, which leads them to Coulson’s hometown, Manitowoc, Wisconsin. How Cal found out this was Coulson’s home is beyond me. But he’s setting a trap for our favorite S.H.I.E.L.D. director. Coulson realizes this and calls May for back up.

What has May and the rest of the team been doing this whole time? Because Skye is now listed on the Index, she has to go through a psych evaluation, which means calling in an outside consultant to administer it. Coulson wants to bring in Andrew Garner and May reluctantly agrees. Why is she reluctant? Because Andrew is her ex-husband, a fact that greatly interests Skye when she finds out. Fitz and Simmons are equally as interested, which serves to bring them back together as a team after Fitz lied to Simmons about Skye’s powers.

May gets the call from Coulson and the bus heads to Wisconsin, with everyone on board. There is then an argument as to how much of a role Skye should play in apprehending her father.  They decide to try and bluff Cal into surrendering by allowing May to put a gun to Skye head. This whole time Skye has begun to get her powers under control, she’s learning to push her emotions away, though Andrew makes the point that she’s not pushing them away, just internalizing them.Read More »Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D recap – One of Us
