One of my pet peeves about Disney is that they build attractions with the promise of regular updates with new show or story elements, but they seldom spend the money to update the show. After a recent series of updates to various attractions, I’m going… Read More »Phineas & Ferb with Perry The Platypus Interactive Game Coming to EPCOT
In an effort to expand my coverage of Disney’s many video gaming efforts, here’s the latest news from the Disney Universe property. Gamers can now suit up, power-up, and battle through the suburbs of Danville in some of their favorite Phineas and Ferb costumes with the release of the “Phineas and Ferb” level downloadable content pack.
Based on Disney Channel’s Emmy Award-winning “Phineas and Ferb,” the #1 animated TV series among tweens 9-14, the “Phineas and Ferb” level in Disney Universe allows players to experience the adventures of Phineas, Ferb and friends in the suburbs of Danville firsthand. Gamers will be able suit up as Phineas, Ferb, Dr. Doofenshmirtz, Agent P and Candace as they utilize cool gadgets. The Chick-Inator will turn players into chickens in order to access small spaces, while the Atomic Leaf Blow-Inator will allow them to blow away piles of leaves to reveal collectibles and more as they advance through the neighborhood avoiding traps and hazards. The level will culminate as players battle Dr. Doofenshmirtz in an epic showdown to bring down his blimp and save a trapped passenger.
To expand on an earlier post about how “Phineas and Ferb” viciously targets Boys 6-11, yesterday Disney Interactive Studios released a video game to keep their hold on this valuable audience. Named “Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension”, after the original TV movie that will… Read More »“Phineas and Ferb” Strike Again
“Aren’t you a little young for an NHL spokesperson?” “Why yes. Yes we are.”
That’s not a line of dialog from the popular Phineas & Ferb animated show on Disney Channel, but it might as well be. The brothers and their friends have been opted into a co-branded plan between Disney Consumer Products and the National Hockey League (NHL) to make exclusive 20111 NHL licensed products.
The Disney and the NHL collection will include apparel, headwear, house and home products and collectibles featuring characters from Phineas and Ferb wearing NHL and team-branded merchandise. NHL and Disney licensees will deliver the new products to retail stores throughout North America in fall 2011, just in time for the new school year and the 2011-12 NHL season.
“The Phineas and Ferb brand evokes creativity, youthfulness and high energy, not unlike the NHL brand,” said Jim Haskins, Group Vice President, Consumer Product Licensing. “The NHL is thrilled to be working with such a premier Disney property as nearly one third of NHL fans are between the ages of six and 17, and 65 percent of those fans watch the Disney Channel.”
It’s no surprise that Disney has a hit with the animated TV show Phineas and Ferb. It took the company a while to wake up to the revenue potential for the show, but now that they think they’ve found another franchise, the race is on… Read More »Targeting Young Boys with Phineas & Ferb
