In true super hero fashion, Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier smashed the record for best April box office weekend with a cool $96.2-million debut. Add that to the already fantastic overseas totals (a $303-million worldwide total so far) and it’s safe to say that… Read More »Captain America Storms The Box Office Nets $96.2 Million in Opening Weekend
We’re less than two months away from opening night of Disney’s “Maleficent”, a retelling of the classic Sleeping Beauty fairytale from the perspective of the wicked fairy Maleficent, portrayed by Angelina Jolie in perfect casting. That means it’s time to really ramp up the marketing machine in the halls of Burbank.
Today I was sent this spectacular banner for the movie.
I like that we get a look at some of the other mythical creatures from the movie. Some of them looking very Jim-Henson-esque. What do you think?

I’ll admit, I’m a big fan of Marvel. I’ll also admit that “Captain America: The First Avenger” isn’t one of my favorite Marvel movies.
With the release of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” however, Marvel not only has another hit on their hands, but firmly entrenches this Avenger as a major force to be reckoned with in the Marvel Universe.
Where the first movie introduced Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and his superhero alter ego’s origins, this movie takes place in a post-Avengers world. One which Rogers is not only trying to catch up with, but one in which he’s trying to find his place in.
As the movie opens, Captain America is now working for S.H.I.E.L.D., but he’s not totally comfortable with all the grey areas the organization likes to operate in. He has an uneasy working relationship with S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and fellow agent Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson), also known as Black Widow, and he’s highly suspicious of a new agency project that will neutralize potential threats before they happen.Read More »Captain America: The Winter Soldier Shows the Superhero In Fine Form
Marvel’s “The Avengers” set the bar really high for movies set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “Iron Man 3” answered with the first hints of a new direction and “Thor: The Dark World” showed that humans could fight along side the super heroes and survive. “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” takes that world and twists everything around setting the stage for “The Avengers: Age of Ultron.”
But I’m getting ahead of myself and the plot.
As the story begins, Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, is settling into his new role in the modern world, but finding the fit a bit uncomfortable. When he sees how S.H.I.E.L.D. plans to respond to the troubles of the modern world, Rogers confronts Nick Fury. Fury has his own concerns, which brings him to the attention of The Winter Soldier, and that’s when the excitement really begins.
Fans of Sleeping Beauty and its wicked fairy are sure to enjoy this magnificent new poster featuring Angelina Jolie as Maleficent. The washed out look adds a certain aura of foreboding, doesn’t it. Also announced was a new Twitter account for the movie. Follow @Maleficent.… Read More »Angelina Jolie is Magnificent as Maleficent in New Poster
A new TV trailer is out for “Muppets Most Wanted.” Apparently Adele Dazeem is a movie critic now. I wonder what Miss Piggy thinks? Adele Dazeem, of course, is the ‘persona’ created by John Travolta’s infamous flub of Idina Menzel’s name at the Oscars. She’s… Read More »What Does Adele Dazeem Think Of Muppets Most Wanted?
Ever wonder why there hasn’t been a sequel to Pixar’s The Incredibles yet? That’s because Director Brad Bird has been having too much fun making live action films. His current project sounds like it will entertain Disney fans and loves of a good thriller at the same time. The plot of Tomorrowland is said to be a mystery wrapped in an enigma (which you can say about nearly anything LOST writer Damon Lindelof is involved with), but it definitely is set in mid-60s Disneyland for at least some of the film.
Here’s the plot synopsis:
Bound by a shared destiny, a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity and a former boy-genius inventor jaded by disillusionment embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space that exists in their collective memory as “Tomorrowland.”
See enigma!
The production has, in fact, been filming at Disneyland this week. Today they’re at “it’s a small world”, conveniently already painted its original color scheme. LaughingPlace.com has a reporter on the scene and has been posting some pictures on Twitter.
Last night, during an otherwise boring Grammy’s broadcast, Disney debuted a new 90-second trailer for Maleficent. “Dream” reveals what a wise choice Disney made casting Angelina Jolie as the wicked fairy queen. Lana Del Rey’s unique re-imagining of, “Once Upon A Dream”, the memorable song… Read More »Disney Debuts New Maleficent Trailer – Dream
