Merchandise Update – Hats, Tees, and Ears to You

Due to popular demand, I’m back with another photo update featuring some of the latest merchandise to hit the shelves at Walt Disney World. In addition to all the great new items, I’ve also noticed that the emporium style stores are really working on organization and flow. There are fewer big displays blocking views across the store and a lot more signage to help guests find exactly what they’re looking for. Great job there.

Alright then, on with the show!

New Year’s Eve merch is starting to show up.

A terrific pair of Mickey Mouse Ears for New Year’s Eve.

Plenty more below the jump, come along:

Disney Store Offers Make-up Discount

If there is one thing about Disney’s merchandise program I’m constantly amazed at, it’s how they manage to screw up the limited edition merchandise events so frequently. If they didn’t have a brand with such a strong history, I don’t think people would put up… Read More »Disney Store Offers Make-up Discount

Phineas & Ferb meet the NHL in Merchandise Agreement

“Aren’t you a little young for an NHL spokesperson?”
“Why yes. Yes we are.”

That’s not a line of dialog from the popular Phineas & Ferb animated show on Disney Channel, but it might as well be. The brothers and their friends have been opted into a co-branded plan between Disney Consumer Products and the National Hockey League (NHL) to make exclusive 20111 NHL licensed products.

The Disney and the NHL collection will include apparel, headwear, house and home products and collectibles featuring characters from Phineas and Ferb wearing NHL and team-branded merchandise. NHL and Disney licensees will deliver the new products to retail stores throughout North America in fall 2011, just in time for the new school year and the 2011-12 NHL season.

“The Phineas and Ferb brand evokes creativity, youthfulness and high energy, not unlike the NHL brand,” said Jim Haskins, Group Vice President, Consumer Product Licensing. “The NHL is thrilled to be working with such a premier Disney property as nearly one third of NHL fans are between the ages of six and 17, and 65 percent of those fans watch the Disney Channel.”

Disney Fan’s Mickey PVC Character Collection Profiled

I love finding news stories that profile Disney fans and their collections. Especially when the fan’s passion is treated with the respect it deserves. That’s definitely the case with Pittsburgh Tribune’s profile of Karen Lindow. Karen collects Mickey and Minnie resin character figures (also known… Read More »Disney Fan’s Mickey PVC Character Collection Profiled

Highlights from Yesterday at The Magic Kingdom

News flew by so fast this weekend and next week is going to be just as crazy. Still, I want to stop and talk about some of the things I saw at the Magic Kingdom on Sunday. Sort of a snap-shot of what’s going on for those who can’t be there in person. I wish I could do this in more depth, but time is short and I have an early day tomorrow.

First, the grand plan to remake the Small World/Peter Pan side of Fantasyland has begun. Construction walls are up and the razing of the Swiss Chalet has begun. This will eventually be the home of new restrooms allowing for expansion of the Peter Pan queue.

Walls are up all over the park. These surround the old marble ball in Tomorrowland. While it was once a nice feature, I think it’s as much a safety hazard now. A clear walkway would be an improvement. Although who knows if it’s coming back or not. Just no water-fountain for kids to play in, thank you.

The Storybook Circus portion of the Fantasyland Expansion is also progressing. The earth movers were active behind the walls today. It looks like the cement walls of what will be the Circus Tent queue are done. The former station building for Goofy’s Barnstormer has been stripped to its studs. So expect the core of the building to remain the same, but with some pretty serious theme upgrades.

Spotted: New T-shirts and Hats at Magic Kingdom

Spotted some fun new hats and t-shirts while in the park this weekend. There are some great new antenna balls too, but for some reason those didn’t download from my camera.

I particularly liked this new Pirates of the Caribbean cap. Saw it on quite a few heads walking around the park, so I must not be the only one.

This hat is part of a set with the T-shirt below. Both are part of the new ‘street-art’ series. I like this one in that it features Mickey with a remote control and a crazy Pete.
