Five things Walt Disney World is doing right

Even though it’s a construction site, it’s still very colorful and themed thanks to the image on the tarp.

A few days ago I looked at the five biggest needs at Walt Disney World, I though it was only fair that I identify five things WDW is doing right. So without any further ado…

1. Building maintenance at the Magic Kingdom

For the last few years I’ve noticed some big improvements in maintenance on the buildings at the Magic Kingdom. There are literally managers who walk around with a camera and voice recording taking pictures of work that needs to be done and recording notes. Then when I come back a few weeks later, that problem has been fixed. That’s how it should work.

The whole park has been working on upgrading everything from facades to sidewalks. You couldn’t miss it if you visited the last few years, inevitably there would be some building shrouded in a giant tarp. But you might look twice once you noticed it, as Disney has taken to printing giant pictures of the buildings being repaired on the outside of the tarp. It doesn’t make them go away, but at least guests can tell that Disney cares about their experience.

Follow me below the jump for even more great things Disney is doing:

Main Street Electrical Parade preview – Summer Nightastic at WDW

Today Walt Disney World arranged a special preview of the Main Street Electrical Parade as it prepares for a return to the Magic Kingdom for Summer Nightastic! starting June 6th. We were taken backstage to the special warehouse where the talented crew at Disney is putting the final touches on the floats.

The MSEP was my Disney parade growing up. Every summer it was there at Disneyland like an old friend. You might say farewell for a while, but you never really said goodbye.

Below the jump are a few photos to whet your appetite. I’ll have much more later

Why the Haunted Mansion is in Liberty Square

Weekend Update – Epcot, Magic Kingdom

We managed to make it to two parks this weekend and was surprised by a few things. There was the expected walls in Fantasyland and further progress on the new restaurant in Mexico, but wait until you see a couple of these pics.

Lot’s more vertical construction visible in Mexico.

They’ve started to lay the floor for the exterior deck, which appears to be a lot bigger than we previously saw.

That’s because some of the construction walls are down. I didn’t capture it in this pic, but the interior floor is still dirt at this phase. That’s a lot of outside seating.

One more pic before we leave EPCOT below the cut and then a whole lot of news from the Magic Kingdom
