This Holiday Season will have a Frozen Flair at Walt Disney World

Mickey Mouse at hte Magic Kingdom in his xmas finest

You could see this one coming all the way from the Kingdom of Arendelle. Walt Disney World will celebrate the frosty, fantastical world of Disney’s animated hit “Frozen” this holiday season.

Starting in early November and through the merry weeks that follow, Queen Elsa and Princess Anna add their special royal touch as the Florida Vacation Kingdom delights guests with yuletide traditions and holiday cheer. Fans of the most popular animated motion picture of all time will have a sleigh-full of “Frozen” entertainment choices.

Of course, not everything is “Frozen” over, many of your traditional holiday favorites are returning. Here’s a list of what you can expect at each of the parks:

Magic Kingdom Plaza / Hub Construction Update

03-plaza-hub-castle-1

We are back with another look at the progress on the Magic Kingdom Plaza / Hub expansion project. The total makeover will be completed in phases, with phase one being a widening of the bridge from Main Street to the Hub. This will allow Disney to hold viewing parties for parades and fireworks.

Subsequent phases will add a second ring of walkways around the hub allowing for easier pedestrian flow during the parades and fireworks, a more garden like feel to the hub, and a slight upgrade to the performance stage in front of the castle.

As part of this update, I’ve also included a look at changes going on backstage. Disney is in the process of lightly themeing the backstage alley that is used for heavy traffic periods to route guests behind Main Street. You can see how they’ve begun to color some of the facades.

If you can’t watch the short video above, there is a gallery of photos below the jump:

Columbia Harbor House Adds New Dinner Dishes

harbor-house

The Columbia Harbor House is the place to go for seafood when you’re at the Magic Kingdom. They have the usual fare of fried fish and shrimp baskets and some wonderfully cooked grilled salmon. Also don’t forget the Tuna Sandwiches, one of my favorite lunch menu items in the park.

When we were at this year’s Mickey’s Not-So Scary Halloween Party we snuck in a quick meal at the Harbor House and were surprised to find a couple new items on the dinner menu.Read More »Columbia Harbor House Adds New Dinner Dishes

Magic Kingdom Photo Update – September 2014

Astro Orbitor is being reassembled atop the PeopleMover

It’s off-season again at the Magic Kingdom and that means construction walls are already popping up all over the park. We have a look at a few of the changes going on around the park that are visible from on-stage. I don’t have a lot of pictures of the Halloween decor because I’ll be heading to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party tonight, but there are some ‘Fall’ decorations you might appreciate.

This time of year at the parks is one of my favorites. The weather starts to chill and the crowds begin to thin. That means us locals finally get a chance to go on those new and major attractions we’ve been avoiding all summer due to long lines. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Anna & Elsa meet and greet anyone?

For now, all the heavy construction action is going on over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Disney Springs. But I would not be entirely suprised to hear that the Magic Kingdom will get something new when it comes to the Star Wars attractions that will be added to the parks.

Finally, although I don’t have any photos of it, the crane is back to install the Cinderella Castle Dream Lights for Christmas season. You’ll just have to find a unique angle to take that castle photo from. Also, if you haven’t already seen it, don’t miss our September update from the Magic Kingdom Plaza / Hub construction project.
