The Hundred-Foot Journey Begins Final Trip Home To Your DVD Shelf

100ftjrny-blurayFrom producers Steven Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey comes the deliciously entertaining The Hundred-Foot Journey, available for pre-order today with delivery on December 2, 2014.

Based on the best-selling novel by Richard C. Morais, the film stars Helen Mirren as Madame Mallory, the chilly chef/proprietress of the Michelin-starred Le Saule Pleureur restaurant located in a quaint village in the south of France. All is well until the Kadam family migrates from India to the village, and Papa opens up Maison Mumbai, an Indian restaurant, only a hundred feet from her own doors.

To add to the complications, Papa’s son Hassan falls for Mme. Mallory’s sous chef Marguerite, and is also a fine cook in his own right – a fact noticed by the Madame, who takes him on as a prodigy.

This flavorful tale of cultural differences, shared passions, and the unifying nature of food makes this movie a delight for all.

In addition to the film, the Digital HD and Blu-ray Combo Pack come with the following bonus features:

Food Verdict: Love it or Hate it – Chicken Waffle Sandwich at Sleepy Hollow

01-sleepyhollow-location

Waffle Sandwiches snuck their onto the menu at Magic Kingdom Sleepy Hollow Refreshments last year and have been one of the park’s best lunch values ever since. I’ve tried the Nutella and Fresh Fruit and the Ham, Prosciutto, and Swiss waffles, but I hadn’t made the acquaintance of the Sweet and Spicy Chicken waffle until recently.

First, let’s talk about the location. For the view, you really can’t beat Sleepy Hollow. I mean, even with a giant crane behind it, Cinderella Castle still soars majestically above your table. You’re also parade route adjacent, with a good view of the floats as they cross the bridge from Liberty Square to the hub.

The restaurant itself is in a great looking building with lots of architectural style and feels like it would fit in fine in revolutionary America. Seating is plentiful and there’s a covered area if the rains decide to come, which they often do in Central Florida.

Food Trucks to Debut Soon in Downtown Disney

It’s the time of year when food takes center stage, with Thanksgiving right around the corner and the holidays shortly following. Downtown Disney has taken note, and has given us foodies some more good news and something to look forward to: food trucks! There are no specific dates set yet for when the trucks will make their first appearances, just that they will debut sometime in early November.

So far we know that there will be four trucks showcasing various meals from around the world, so guests can experience international dishes without all the traveling. The first truck, “Enchanted Fare,” will serve a wide variety of foods from Disney parks around the globe, such as Croque Monsieur, Glass Noodle Salad, as well as Hand-Dipped Corn Dogs.

Exploring California Grill’s New Beverage Menu

Disney’s particular brand of magic does not usually require augmentation with spirits, unless you’re at the Haunted Mansion, but when I dine out at a nice restaurant like Disney’s California Grill, I do enjoy a glass of wine or a well-crafted cocktail with my meal.… Read More »Exploring California Grill’s New Beverage Menu

California Grill: Meet Chef Brian Piasecki

California Grill Chef de Cuisine Brian Piasecki

California Grill Chef de Cuisine Brian Piasecki spent nearly a year perfecting a new menu with seasonal ingredients and a lighter touch, such as baked local prawns and wild Columbia River salmon with Zellwood sweet corn pudding. He’s been a part of Disney’s excellent foodservice team since his apprenticeship in 1991, rising through the ranks to eventually take over The California Grill in 2009. I had the chance talk with Chef Brian a few days before the restaurant officially reopened after a long remodel process:
