Maybe I should just expect perfection at this point from The Muppets advertising campaign. Yet, I can’t help but continuously be blown away by how truly wonderful it is.
Aside from their hilarious teaser trailers and viral videos, the folks at Disney have launched a brilliant Facebook campaign called the “Muppets Fan-A-Thon.” In a series of short videos (like the one below), a few of the most popular characters, like Kermit, Miss Piggy, and Gonzo, ask in their own quirky ways for users to help them get to a “BaZillion” Facebook likes. And in return? Users will get exclusive information about advance movie screenings and special deals.
Let’s just say I “Liked” it immediately.
The Muppet Facebook page is also just fun to poke around. Yesterday, they uploaded some new promotional posters for the movie. My personal favorite, of Statler and Waldorf, is pictured below the jump. They also uploaded a short video of the sarcastic pair, which is quite hilarious. I also appreciate the video of the Swedish Chef*, who happens to be my absolute favorite Muppet, preparing a pumpkin for Halloween.
So what are you waiting for? Get “Liking“, or see more after the jump!

That didn’t take long. Disney has started to spread its iconic designs into the world of Social City (http://www.facebook.com/SocialCity), one of the Facebook games that came with its recent purchase of Playdom Games. Players will now find some of their favorite Disney rides and attractions in Social City’s raffle and can add these buildings to their city. Fans can look forward to seeing some of Disney’s most beloved rides and attractions, including “The Matterhorn Bobsleds”, “Space Mountain” and the “Mad Tea Party”. Players who collect all seven Disney themed prizes from the raffle will be awarded the grand prize, “Cinderella’s Castle”.
I’ve logged onto Social City and played a bit. It’s no replacement for Disney’s Virtual Magic Kingdom (VMK). As you can see the artwork, I’ve included more below the jump, similar to VMK, which is cute. You’ll want to play for a while and get some friends playing too before actually installing any of the buildings. Game play is similar to Farmville and related games, with Playdom making money when you buy in-game cash or participate in marketing type surveys and such. YMMV. Of course, that level of sinister is exactly why Playdom was so attractive to Disney.
Today marks the third crop of Disney World Moms debut into the world of answering the questions of other theme park guests and vacation planners. If they’re anything like the first two it should be another bang up year. I like when Disney uses social media in new and interesting ways and this certainly qualifies. Especially when the wdw moms take it to other channels (like twitter and facebook).
One thing Disney has done differently this year, however, is to have some of the moms on a part time basis. That means they currently have around 40 people answering questions now, including more men than ever before (I count 5 on the list).
Of course, The Disney Blog’s own Oh Amanda is on the panel this year. Hopefully we’ll hear reports on her experience from time to time/
