Disney has announced the pickup of single-camera comedy Uncle Buck. Based on the 1989 John Hughes movie starring John Candy, this show is being positioned as a mid-season replacement. It will also pair well with Black-ish, one of last season’s breakout comedies for ABC, if… Read More »Disney picks up “Uncle Buck” remake for ABC
Black-ish is one of ABC’s breakout hits of the season. This past weekend, the four actors who play the Johnson family children, kicked off their summer break together at Walt Disney World. “black-ish” stars Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross as the parents of four children played by Yara Shahidi as Zoey Johnson, Marcus Scribner as Andre Johnson, Jr., Miles Brown as Jack Johnson, and Marsai Martin as Diane Johnson.
The show, which has new episodes airing through May, has become the season’s No. 1 new comedy in adults 18-49 and swept the 2015 NAACP Image Awards’ television comedy categories, including Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Shahidi. To celebrate the show’s success, Shahidi, Scribner, Brown and Martin took their break time together along with their actual parents to get an early start on Walt Disney World’s Coolest Summer Ever celebration.

I wish I had more good things to say about ABC’s medieval Musical Comedy special Galavant, but I’m going to be frank with you… it was bad, often verging on awful. The best parts were the commercials for ABC’s comedies sung to the tune of… Read More »Galavant, ABC’s Musical Comedy, has few bright spots
Don’t forget tonight on ABC comes something new from Disney, a 4-week comedy extravaganza featuring songs from Oscar winning composer Alan Menken and writing and production talent from Dan Fogelman and Glenn Slater from Disney’s Tangled.
Once upon a time, the dashing hero, Galavant (Joshua Sasse) lost the love of his life, Madalena (Mallory Jansen), to the evil King Richard (Timothy Omundson). Now, our fallen hero is ready to take revenge and restore his “happily ever after.” But it won’t be without a few twists and turns along the way.
Update: After removing the previous version, Disney added an updated version of the video.
Galavant is Disney’s comedic take on the knights of legends from across the pond. It appears to be important a bit of that British style of humor as well.
I wasn’t quite sure how far Disney was going to take Galavant. But judging by the lyrics to the theme song, they aren’t afraid to go out on a ledge with the humor:
Galavant follows Jashua Sasse as Galvant as the dashing hero fights to get the love of his live, Madalena, back from the evil King Richard. Now, our fallen hero is ready to take revenge and restore his “happily ever after.” But it won’t be without a few twists and turns along the way.
Galavant premieres Sunday, Jan 4 at 8|7c on ABC. It’s actually a double feature with two episodes “Pilot” and “Joust Friends.” Read the episode summaries below the jump: Read More »Galavant: Animated Theme Song Lyrics
