“I’m going to Disney World” are the five words every athlete wants to speak after winning a big game. Soon, one team in the inaugural NCAA College Football Playoff will have that honor. Of course, Disney is smartly playing it up with a series of… Read More »Walt Disney World TV Ad features Oregon and Ohio Mascots
Construction on the new Starbucks location coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios is making some real progress. Not only does the location have a name “The Trolley Car Cafe”, it has a new sign (the Starbucks logo is covered up by that brown cover). It looks like you’ll be able to order those Venti Mochas pretty soon.
I’m a little saddened by the decision to close the door at the exit of Celebrity 5 & 10 on Hollywood Blvd. That will cut off one of the very few ways around the parade route for guest pedestrian traffic. Of course, they don’t currently do a parade very often. I hope that changes though.
Thanks to a small gap in the paper covering the windows we were able to get a preview of what the interior looks like. It looks a little under-stated to me. Yes, it’s not finished, so we’ll give them the benefit of the doubt here. Read More »Starbucks Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios Soon
The 2015 Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures schedule has been discussed before here on the blog, but with a new year I wanted to take a stab at some predictions for how well the films will be received by critics and at the box office. We’d also like to have your preductions in the comments.
2014 was a really weak year for the box office, and I don’t expect market conditions to change too much in 2015. That means Disney already has a steep slope to climb. But Disney was the king of 2014 and the 2015 movie slate Disney appears to have that box office win in hand already.
In order of release here we go.
JANUARY 23, 2015 – Strange Magic
This movie came out of nowhere, aka Lucasfilm Animation Singapore. This film has a very similar feel as Fox’s 2013 animated flick “Epic.” I see it doing just about the same at the domestic box office. I expect the public will enjoy it more than the critics who didn’t like “Epic” at all.
Domestic total: $112 million Rotten Tomatoes rating: 59
FEBRUARY 20, 2015 – McFarland, USA
Disney really hopes that “McFarland, USA” does better than “Million Dollar Arm.” Kevin Costner should attract some viewers, but the story seems like it will fall flat to me.
Domestic total: $46 million Rotten Tomatoes rating: 49
MARCH 13, 2015 – Cinderella
The fairy-tale is a staple of Disney movies and it’s been a few years since one as pure as Cinderella has been on the big screen. Director Kenneth Branagh will bring his ‘A’ game for Disney and the supporting cast will make this a must-see film for the spring.
Domestic total: $255 million Rotten Tomatoes rating: 65
Don’t forget tonight on ABC comes something new from Disney, a 4-week comedy extravaganza featuring songs from Oscar winning composer Alan Menken and writing and production talent from Dan Fogelman and Glenn Slater from Disney’s Tangled.
Once upon a time, the dashing hero, Galavant (Joshua Sasse) lost the love of his life, Madalena (Mallory Jansen), to the evil King Richard (Timothy Omundson). Now, our fallen hero is ready to take revenge and restore his “happily ever after.” But it won’t be without a few twists and turns along the way.
Finally, Marvel has released the first teaser trailer for Ant-Man. Unfortunately, you have to an ant to appreciate it.
Oh Marvel. You’re so funny. Catch the full thing during the two-hour series premiere of “Marvel’s Agent Carter” Tuesday, January 6 beginning at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC!
Update: Marvel has released a human sized version of the trailer trailer too
Over the Christmas holidays, I had set out on a mission, to re-cut the Marvel movies into one coherent continuous film. I had originally came across the concept when my brother had shown me the timeline known as “Fury’s Big Week.” This is in reference… Read More »Geek out with the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe in one Mega-Cut
We have already been told that Walt Disney World would begin demolition of the Sorcerer’s Hat icon from Disney’s Hollywood Studios in early 2015. The park has officially confirmed that they won’t be wasting any time with walls going up on January 7th and demolition… Read More »Sorcerer’s Hat Confirmed for Removal on Jan 7
