Fans of Splash Mountain have a little over one month to enjoy the attraction at Disneyland Resort, as it is set to close permanently in May 2023.
Saying Goodbye
It’s official…Splash Mountain at Disneyland will take its final plunge on May 30, 2023.
The attraction will be officially closed as of May 31 to begin the transformation into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure…and yes, this time Disneyland has confirmed the date.
Splash Mountain at Walt Disney World already closed earlier this year, with the final day of the attraction happening on January 22, 2023.
Fans were out in droves to say goodbye to the beloved attraction, and I expect the same huge crowds on May 30, so get your Disneyland park reservations made now!
Tiana’s Coming
It was announced in 2020 that Splash Mountain on both coasts would be closing to make way for a new attraction: Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
Inspired by 2009 film, The Princess and the Frog, and the city of New Orleans, this reimagining of the ride will follow Princess Tiana and jazz-loving alligator Louis during Mardi Gras season as they prepare to host a one-of-a-kind celebration for the people of New Orleans.
Eudora’s Chic Boutique retail store opened in Disneyland’s New Orleans Square in September, and the French Market restaurant recently closed for its transformation into Tiana’s Palace.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is scheduled to open in Late 2024 at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World.
There Can Be Only One
Once Disneyland’s Splash Mountain is closed, that will leave only Tokyo Disney Resort as the last park with a Splash Mountain.
As of now, The Walt Disney Company has not announced any plans to alter Tokyo’s version of the attraction, so if you really miss it, you can always book a trip to Japan.
