In a surprise announcement, multiplatinum-selling recording artist Miley Cyrus and Disney will be reuniting for the Disney+ Original Special Event “Miley Cyrus – Endless Summer Vacation (Backyard Sessions),” which will debut on March 10, 2023.
The Details
Miley Cyrus serves as executive producer on the music-focused performance special from Disney Branded Television which will showcase new music from her Endless Summer Vacation album, including the song “Flowers,” which has been No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart for six consecutive weeks since its debut.
The “Backyard Sessions” are an informal series of online performances that Miley began in 2012 for her fans. Viewers were quickly taken with the experience of watching Miley and her band perform in an intimate, outdoor setting, and the “Backyard Sessions” quickly became a benchmark web series. This special serves as a continuation of that experience.
Disney says Miley’s performances will be threaded with exclusive interviews with her in the famed Los Angeles house where Frank Sinatra once lived, and where Miley shot the official music video for “Flowers.”
Fans can tune in on March 10 at 1pm ET/10am PT on Disney+ for the debut of the special, which joins the streamer’s concert catalog that includes the recent Elton John final show and the upcoming U2’s Bono + Edge special.
“Miley Cyrus – Endless Summer Vacation (Backyard Sessions)” is produced by RadicalMedia, Miley Cyrus, HopeTown Entertainment, Crush Management and Columbia Records. Jacob Bixenman and Brendan Walter are directors, and Marcell Rév is director of photography.
Of course Miley rose to fame as a teen in the hugely popular Disney Channel television series Hannah Montana (2006–2011), so this is a bit of a full circle moment for both.
