Disney’s Animal Kingdom Construction Update – November 2015

Finally, the Hyena enclosure has been completed on the Savannah of Kilimanjaro Safari. There are two new spotted hyenas. We didn’t see any when we were out tour, but Disney shared some pictures. This same enclosure will also house African Wild Dogs, just at a different time of the day. Hyenas are primarily nocturnal and will be featured in the new night time safari.

We didn’t get photos, but pretty much all of Discovery Island has gotten a refresh. With new color scheme, wider pathways, and more lights, the area will soon be able to handle the crowds that come with the after dark party/cavalcade that will perform in front of the Tree of Life.

What will it take for you to spend more time at Disney’s Animal Kingdom? Are these updates enough? Would you like to see more animals, like the water buffalo just added to the Maharajah Jungle Trek in Asia?

  1. This is our favorite park and we can hardly wait for it to stop feeling like a construction site. When is the parade coming back? It was wonderfully intimate. In terms of spending more time here, well there little reason to go to Hollywood Studios in 2016, so sure Animal Kingdom will benefit. Thanks for the updates.
