00-swan-dolphin-food-wine-classic

I’ve had the good fortune and the satisfied stomach of attending the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic 3 of the last 4 years. Each year I come away more impressed with the event and the opportunities guests enjoy to tase the best of local chefs and the global wine scene.

This is the sixth-annual Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic and it will once again be held over Halloween weekend – Friday, October 30, and Saturday, October 31.

All you need to attend is a Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic causeway ticket. It offers guests unlimited tastings at more than 40 stations featuring culinary selections from the hotel’s award-winning restaurants and wine from more than 30 wineries amidst a festive backdrop of live entertainment on the hotel’s scenic causeway. Upgraded ticket options allow guests to enjoy access to a beer garden featuring a wide selection of craft beers and Oktoberfest-inspired cuisine. The event also includes hands-on experiences with the hotel’s chefs and certified beverage experts in a variety of food and beverage seminars.

  • Advance-purchase, event-only tickets to enjoy unlimited tastings on the causeway are $105 per person
  • Upgraded tickets, including unlimited tastings on the causeway and access to the beer garden, are $125 per person
  • Beverage seminars are $45 per person, per class with the purchase of a causeway ticket
  • Pasta making, sushi and sake, and cheese seminars are $60 per person, per class with the purchase of a causeway ticket

I recommend taking at least one seminar (one each day is optimal).

Disney donates $4.5 Million to Benefit Community Groups

DisneyGrants2015-1024x741

Monday was a big day in Central Florida when representatives of 102 local community focused groups took center stage at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts and Walt Disney World awarded more than $4.5 million in Disney Grants. These gifts will enable the organizations to play an even stronger supporting role for more than 250,000 Central Florida children and their families.

Through the support provided by Disney’s signature giving program, the grants will help local organizations build children’s character, encourage creativity and promote economic development throughout Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Lake and Polk counties. This year’s grant recipients offer an array of programs, including learning and reading camps, arts enrichment and furniture and clothes for families in need.

“Disney Grant recipients work tirelessly to build a better future for Central Florida and share Disney’s values of investing in children and families,” said George A. Kalogridis, president of Walt Disney World. “For more than 43 years, we’ve joined with other local organizations to strengthen our community because we believe we’re better together.”

Actors from the Cast of Òblack-ishÓ Kick Off Their Summer Break at Walt Disney World Resort

Black-ish is one of ABC’s breakout hits of the season. This past weekend, the four actors who play the Johnson family children, kicked off their summer break together at Walt Disney World. “black-ish” stars Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross as the parents of four children played by Yara Shahidi as Zoey Johnson, Marcus Scribner as Andre Johnson, Jr., Miles Brown as Jack Johnson, and Marsai Martin as Diane Johnson.

The show, which has new episodes airing through May, has become the season’s No. 1 new comedy in adults 18-49 and swept the 2015 NAACP Image Awards’ television comedy categories, including Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Shahidi. To celebrate the show’s success, Shahidi, Scribner, Brown and Martin took their break time together along with their actual parents to get an early start on Walt Disney World’s Coolest Summer Ever celebration.
