Release Dates for Disney’s 2014 Movie Slate

Update: 2015 movie slate now available.

2014-wds-movie-slate

Hang on to that popcorn bucket and suck down that soda, the 2014 line of movies from the Mouse House is looking absolutely amazing. Disney’s movie empire has expended greatly (and Lucasfilm still hasn’t been added to the mix) and there are a lot of films on the list. There are three or four potential question marks, but the slate looks very respectable.

I’ve included the full list with a synopsis and trailer video when available. Set your calendar appointments now and let us know which you’re looking most forward to.

February 28, 2014 – The Wind Rises

Acclaimed director Hayao Miyazaki’s final film.

In “The Wind Rises,” Jiro dreams of flying and designing beautiful airplanes, inspired by the famous Italian aeronautical designer Caproni. Nearsighted from a young age and unable to be a pilot, Jiro joins a major Japanese engineering company in 1927 and becomes one of the world’s most innovative and accomplished airplane designers. The film chronicles much of his life, depicting key historical events, including the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923, the Great Depression, the tuberculosis epidemic and Japan’s plunge into war. Jiro meets and falls in love with Nahoko, and grows and cherishes his friendship with his colleague Honjo. Writer/director Hayao Miyazaki pays tribute to engineer Jiro Horikoshi and author Tatsuo Hori in this epic tale of love, perseverance, and the challenges of living and making choices in a turbulent world.

The Lion King remade with Kittens!

And now for a dose of feline cuteness… Disney’s The Lion King retold using kittens. That kitten just can’t wait to be king. I liked “The Lion King for Dummies” book, nice touch. Which was your favorite moment?
