New Magic Kingdom Cell Phone Charging Lockers

04-charging-station-mobile-cell-space

A new service offering free unattended smartphone charging is available at the Magic Kingdom. With families having an increasing dependence on cell phones, not just to say in contact with each other, but to use Disney’s new MyMagic+ reservation system and to make and change Fastpass+ plans via the My Disney Experience app, there has been an increased demand for places to charge those mobile devices.

Disney first added locations with banks of plugs and USB ports near the Tangled restrooms, the yellow Fastpass tent in Storybook Circus, and in the back of the Space Mountain store near the arcade. However, guests have to stay with their devices to charge them, and two of the locations don’t really work if its raining.

What might work better is if you could drop your mobile phone off, let it charge for a bit while you go on a ride or have a meal, then come back and retrieve it. It would be even better if this was handled in a secure location.

Should Disneyland Re-Theme Innoventions to Marvel?

Disneyland’s Tommorowland has always been the black sheep of the theme park. Never quite fitting in to the time in which it existed, the whole concept of a land based on the unknown realm of the future, has been difficult for even Disney’s famed Imagineers… Read More »Should Disneyland Re-Theme Innoventions to Marvel?

Brad Bird’s Tomorrowland Filming at Disneyland This Week

tomorrowland-case

Ever wonder why there hasn’t been a sequel to Pixar’s The Incredibles yet? That’s because Director Brad Bird has been having too much fun making live action films. His current project sounds like it will entertain Disney fans and loves of a good thriller at the same time. The plot of Tomorrowland is said to be a mystery wrapped in an enigma (which you can say about nearly anything LOST writer Damon Lindelof is involved with), but it definitely is set in mid-60s Disneyland for at least some of the film.

Here’s the plot synopsis:

Bound by a shared destiny, a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity and a former boy-genius inventor jaded by disillusionment embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space that exists in their collective memory as “Tomorrowland.”

See enigma!

The production has, in fact, been filming at Disneyland this week. Today they’re at “it’s a small world”, conveniently already painted its original color scheme. LaughingPlace.com has a reporter on the scene and has been posting some pictures on Twitter.

Hong Kong Disneyland Getting Marvel Iron Man Experience Motion Simulator Attraction

iron-man-experience-poster-hkdl

So, The First Avenger will be on the cruise ships, The Mighty Avenger will be out in California and it seems that The Armored Avenger will make his first Disney Parks home in Hong Kong. Tomorrowland in Hong Kong Disneyland will soon get a motion simulator based attraction that features Iron Man.

Tom Staggs announced today on the Disney Parks blog that Hong Kong Disneyland will be home to the first attraction based on the Marvel characters (I guess Meet-and-Greets don’t count as attractions). Speculation is HKDL gets the attraction first in order to help its attendance numbers continue an upward trend.

What has been announced so far leads me to believe that the ride will be in the same style as Star Tours.Read More »Hong Kong Disneyland Getting Marvel Iron Man Experience Motion Simulator Attraction

RetroLand: 1960 Tomorrowland Spaceman and Spacewoman

Construction for Disneyland’s original Tomorrowland didn’t even start until December 1955, that left them just 6 months to pull it all together.
