MyMagic+ – NextGen Rollout Questions, Answer, and more Questions

If you missed the news, Thomas Staggs has made Disney’s most clear statement to date on exactly what NextGen will bring to the parks. The guest will encounter it via the MyMagic+ program. There’s a fairly good write up on the program by Brooks Barnes in the New York Times.

There was also this bit officially released by Disney:

With MyMagic+ Walt Disney Parks and Resorts is taking another step forward to evolve “how” guests experience Disney Parks and is using technology to make it easier than ever before for guests to make the most of their Walt Disney World visit. Many of these efforts fall under the umbrella of MyMagic+, which has the ability to connect nearly all aspects of the guest experience and make it better for everyone, at no additional charge.

A new website and mobile app called My Disney Experience provides a one-stop shop for all things Walt Disney World throughout every phase of a guest’s vacation. It will enable guests to:Read More »MyMagic+ – NextGen Rollout Questions, Answer, and more Questions

Disney*Pixar one of First Brands to Get Branded Twitter Pages

Twitter rolled out a couple big changes today. A new twitter homepage and app that focuses the experience more on activity was the first to be announced. Then they also dropped a new type of Twitter page designed with brands in mind.

Disney*Pixar was one of the first 21 brands given access to the new pages. As you can see they’re using it to highlight Pixar’s Brave. Not only is there a banner available, but brands can pin a post at the top of their timeline, the Brave trailer was selected here.

I also am very interested in the background for the Disney*Pixar twitter brand page. It looks to be a background from Brave. In CG Animation, this isn’t anything unique, but it’s still fun to explore.

I’ve uploaded a full copy without the twitter windows below the cut for you to explore:

Disney Parks Mobile Magic App Now Free for Verizon Customers

Are you a Verizon customer with an Android phone? Then you’re in luck, Disney Parks and Verizon have just reduced the price of their “Mobile Magic” application down to nothing. Yep, download it for free right now and next time you’re in the parks get accurate wait times and fast pass information in real time. iPhone users will have to wait as that application is still in development.

This is a good move for Disney, I never understood why they charged people to learn more about the parks in the first place. Seems like they’d want their guests to be better educated about their in park choices so they can have a better time and tell others about it, hence bringing back more families in the future.

With NextGeneration (NGE) technology coming soon, Disney’s relationship with Verizon is likely evolving and may dissolve completely. That will allow those who have other carriers to get in on the fun. But for now, it’s only for Verizon customers. Thankfully I am one, I’ve now downloaded the app and will try it out next time I’m at the park.

More details on the app below the jump:
