A new featurette and two clips from Disney’s “Maleficent” have been released. We’re just about a week away from the opening of this retelling of Disney’s classic animated feature “Sleeping Beauty.” In this new behind the scenes featurette, we learn how the cast and filmmakers create one of the biggest battle scenes in the film.

A moor is a brackish backwater swamp or marsh in England. In this clip, Maleficent retreats to the safety of her moor after losing her wings. The fine folks at Disney movie marketing have decided to release another featurette for Maleficent giving us just a slightly wider slice of the film than the previous featurettes. This one focuses on the battle between light and dark that goes on in the kingdom, in the characters, and in the movie:
Also released was a new clip from the film featuring that most iconic of Sleeping Beauty moments when Princess Aurora pricks her finger on the spinning wheel and falls into a sleep-like death.

A new clip titled “Awkward Situation” from Maleficent finds the evil fairy making her iconic entrance at Aurora’s christening.
Of course, if you saw the 9 minute preview at Disney’s Hollywood Studios or DCA, then you’ve already seen that scene. If not, what are you waiting for? the preview screenings end June 15th.

We’re less than two months away from opening night of Disney’s “Maleficent”, a retelling of the classic Sleeping Beauty fairytale from the perspective of the wicked fairy Maleficent, portrayed by Angelina Jolie in perfect casting. That means it’s time to really ramp up the marketing machine in the halls of Burbank.

I like that we get a look at some of the other mythical creatures from the movie. Some of them looking very Jim-Henson-esque. What do you think?
