Fans just can’t get enough of Disney’s Frozen. The tale of unusual friendships and the power of sisterly love will soon get it’s own “Making Of” special to air on the ABC Network. “The Story of Frozen: Making a Disney Animated Classic” is an all-new, unprecedented collaboration with Lincoln Square Productions and Walt Disney Animation Studios. The special ventures behind-the-scenes for an exclusive look at the origins and evolution of the Academy Award- winning film “Frozen,” now the biggest animated feature of all time.

“The Story of Frozen: Making a Disney Animated Classic” will air Tuesday, September 2 (8:00 -9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Viewers will get a rare look inside Walt Disney Animation Studios and unprecedented access to the creative team that brought “Frozen” to life. Throughout the one-hour special, the audience will hear from “Frozen” stars Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel, the directors, songwriters, producer and artists and chief creative officer John Lasseter – the team who dreamed of making a cherished Hans Christian Andersen story into a big screen animated musical.

Viewers will take a journey to the beautiful Norwegian villages and landscapes that inspired the look of Arendelle – the fictional kingdom – and see images and footage from the research trips to Norway, Quebec and points beyond that helped create the film’s unforgettable look and feel.

Frozen Summer Extended by 4 Weeks at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

From getting the budget approved to hosting the first event in the park, the Frozen Summer at Disney’s Hollywood Studios promotion took about a month to pull together. It’s nice to see that Disney can still be nimble when it wants to be. And they’ve managed to produce a fantastic product that guests of all ages and temperaments can enjoy.

The good news, for those who haven’t yet been out to visit Arendelle by the swamp, Disney has extended the royal stay by 4 weeks. “Frozen Summer Fun LIVE!” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will now end Sept. 28, 2014.

As you might guess, fans of “Frozen,” the most successful animated film of all time, have been flocking to the flurry of fun at Disney’s Hollywood Studios since July 5, enjoying immersive experiences like the “For The First Time in Forever: A ‘Frozen’ Sing-Along Celebration” and ice skating (on real ice!) inside Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post & Frozen Funland. Anna, Elsa & Kristoff are also welcomed by guests daily in an 11 a.m. processional down Hollywood Boulevard while ice cutters, skaters and skiers join the cavalcade.

To commemorate the extension of this popular event, Disney commissioned an Elsa & Anna themed Etch A Sketch drawing from Etch A Sketch artist Jane Labowitch, aka Princess Etch A Sketch. The original drawing was done in one line, and took her an hour, but Disney condensed it down into a few seconds for your viewing pleasure here:

Nearly all of the event’s components will continue daily, with the exception of the “Frozen Fireworks” spectacular. The fireworks show will be presented each night (except August 23) through September 1, and then on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays only from September 5-28.

Most activities in “Frozen Summer Fun LIVE!” are included in regular park admission to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

As Once Upon A Time enters its fourth season on ABC, they shared the first images of the Frozen-inspired season of Once Upon a Time. We also have a look back on the show’s presence in San Diego during SDCC’14 on Saturday morning.

The SDCC panel included co-creators and executive producers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, along with Lana Parrilla (Regina), Josh Dallas (David), Emilie de Ravin (Belle), Colin O’Donoghue (Captain Hook), Jared Gilmore (Henry), Robert Carlyle (Mr. Gold) and Jennifer Morrison (Emma). They discussed the upcoming season of new characters, new adventures and new rivalries.

During the panel, they debuted a clip featuring Frozen’s Elsa (Georgina Haig) and Anna (Elizabeth Lail) putting flowers on their parents’ gravestones. Apparently the Frozen storyline on the series will take place after the events of the hit Disney film.

They also showed a second clip, filmed a few days before SDCC’14, featuring what looked like Regina returning to her old ways. The clip also featured a return appearance by the Mirror (played again by Giancarlo Esposito).

Ginnifer Goodwin (Snow) couldn’t be there in person, but did send a lovely video greeting from the set of the show in Vancouver:

Four more photos of Elsa, Kristoff, and Sven plus a ton more SDCC videos below the jump:

So Why Did Once Upon a Time Choose that Frozen Storyline?

How bad is the new Disney Channel Stars’ “Frozen” Cover?

dcstars-frozen

The answer is super bad, but not for the reasons you think. The voices used aren’t bad whatsoever (the inclusion of the adults was fantastic, in my opinion). As I mentioned in my previous article on the topic, the older group covers they did in the early 2000’s featured not only a happier tone, but just an overall more enjoyable listening experience.

First off, the song choice was pretty horrendous. Of all the songs to choose in Frozen, or any Disney film for that matter, you must choose one that doesn’t need backstory to work. “Circle of Life” and “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes” both made sense in and out of the story. The only one that sort of, kind of works within the context of the film and as a stand alone song is “Let It Go,” though I realize they didn’t choose that one as it has become the definition of overplayed.

Secondly, the previous incarnations had a playful atmosphere in the videos.”Circle of Life” featured the starship a karaoke bar, with various screens showing scenes from the film. “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes” had them in a recording studio and ballroom setting, also featuring scenes from the film, but not in the “We Are the World” awkward format the new one had. It felt more like a music video and not like a group of people singing in honor of a fallen cast member.

The worst part, however, was the way they doled out solos. They were haphazardly created, with some being given around 3 words, then everyone singing along at the end, including people who clearly don’t know what they are doing (cough cough cast of Lab Rats cough cough).  Then one cast member, (unfortunately I don’t know his name, but I do know he has a LOT of hair) had one of those weird moments where he just repeated back what everyone else was singing, just louder and by adding some more emphasis. It was odd and rather uncalled for. His voice wasn’t bad, just what they made him sing was weird.
