Former Pixar Animator’s short Alma to be made into Feature

Former Pixar Animator Rodrigo Blaas created the animated short Alma on his own time while working in Emeryville. It’s been wowing crowds in festivals and on the internet since he released it. Now the film has been optioned for a feature treatment, but unfortunately not by Disney or Pixar. Rather Dreamworks has hired Blaas to direct the Alma blowup and co-direct Trollhunters. Not sure why Disney lost out here, but good for Blaas for making the jump to director.
