One of my little hobbies at Walt Disney World is to find the latest T-shirt designs they’re hoping the public will buy. Today there is a wider selection than ever before even to the point where you can customize your own tee right at Downtow Disney.
Here are a few that stood out to me this Sunday at Downtown Disney:
I like this design a lot. I had a cheesy non-Disney shirt with that saying on it in high school. Mi Casa Es Su Casa. Thanks Mickey!
I’m continually astounded by the drug culture influenced designs they find for Tinker Bell. This isn’t one of the worst, in fact, it’s part of a new line of Tees that are inspirational in nature. But on the other hand this would fit in well in the 70s too.
This is a design from street artist Bloc28. Previously there had been a line of baseball caps from Bloc28, but I never saw those for sale at the parks. There’s a little Steamboat Willy going on (although it should be all black and white). Frankly, I’m amazed that they’re selling this design since it appears to show Mickey Mouse being violently torn in two by a sea creature of some sort. That’s about as off-model as I’ve ever seen.
Tonight is Game 3 of the Fairytale series aka the Disneyland vs Disney World NBA Finals. Here are the Disney themed t-shirt designs that are available for purchase at STAPLES Center and Amway Arena, Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World and online at nbastore.com, orlandomagicshop.com and lakersstore.com.
Still looking for the first shots of these in the wild. They didn’t have any of them at Downtown Disney on Sunday.
The Los Angeles Lakers get the fab four on their shirts.
But the Orlando Magic get the classic pie-eye Mickey. Which I think is pretty cool.
Back in 2006 when Handy Manny was first broadcast on the Disney Channel, I wrote about the lack of toys available for this very popular series. There were dozens and dozens of comments on that post asking where they could find Handy Manny toys. I… Read More »New Pooh Movie among Disney’s new licensing plans

This year at the American International Toy Fair in New York City The Walt Disney Company revealed a few of the beautiful toys set to accompany it’s next animated feature The Princess And The Frog. Disney Consumer Products (DCP) in collaboration with Mattel and CDI, a division of JAKKS Pacific, unveiled a dazzling and magical toy line inspired by the film and its colorful characters. Tony Award-winning actress/singer Anika Noni Rose, the voice of Princess Tiana, unveiled the line which includes dolls, play sets and role-play dresses.
Opening Holiday 2009, The Princess And The Frog is a magical fairytale set in New Orleans that marks Disney’s return to musicals and the warmth and grandeur of 2D hand drawn animation. Embodying the timelessness of Disney’s storytelling heritage, the film also introduces Disney’s newest princess in more than 10 years, Princess Tiana. The event marked the first time that Ms. Rose and Toy Fair attendees were able to see the toy line. Mattel presented a one-of-a-kind Princess Tiana doll created specifically for Ms. Rose in celebration of her role.
“I have loved Disney movies since seeing Fantasia, Bambi, and Mary Poppins when I was little,” said Ms. Rose. “I have always wanted to do a Disney voice, since before I even thought of being an actor, so for me, this is a dream come true. It didn’t even need to be a princess, so this is just the cherry on top. Tiana is a different sort of princess in that she has had a very loving childhood and is not waiting for someone to change her life for her – she has a vision and a plan. I saw early models of the toy line, but seeing them today in final form, they are just beautiful. What an absolute thrill to be a part of something so timeless!”
In addition to toys, DCP will also introduce an extensive line of The Princess and The Frog-inspired apparel, accessories, home décor, consumer electronics, school supplies and personal care products arriving to retailers nationwide this fall. Disney Publishing Worldwide will launch an assortment of titles including story and activity books. In malls across North America and Canada, over 220 Disney Stores will also celebrate the debut of Princess Tiana and The Princess And The Frog with gorgeous window displays and merchandising. The one-of-a-kind product assortment designed by Disney Store will offer something for everyone including Halloween costumes and role play dresses.

Rumors that LEGO would soon start producing a few Disney themed lines recently made their way around the internet. Turns out they’re true. The LEGO Group and Disney Consumer Products today announced a multi-year licensing agreement that gives the LEGO Group access to an extensive portfolio of renowned Disney and Disney Pixar properties. LEGO® and LEGO DUPLO® products are currently in development for three franchises — Disney Pixar’s Toy Story and Cars, and Prince of Persia — all scheduled to launch in 2010.
“We are thrilled to team up with Disney, another of the world’s premium brands for families with children,” said Jorgen Vig Knudstorp, CEO LEGO Group. “When two brands who share similar values bring their franchises together — in this case a timeless play pattern with some of the industry’s most beloved stories and characters — and combine their access to families, retail strength and marketing power, amazing things can happen. We can’t wait to launch the first three lines and look forward to exploring all of the ways in which we bring the wonderful world of Disney to life in LEGO form.”
