Mary Poppins Segment on 20/20 tonight

I like to see Disney using its existing media to promote its other products. As long as its done in moderation. Tonight 20/20 will have a segment on PL Travers and Mary Poppins the musical. The musical is now playing on Broadway. If you don’t get 20/20 or can’t wait, you can see it online… Read More »Mary Poppins Segment on 20/20 tonight

Polynesian Hotel logo origin clues

How Bowers, author of the Tiki Talk blog, takes a look at the origin of the Polynesian Hotel logo at Walt Disney World. When placed side-by-side with the resort’s logo, it’s easy to see how the designer took the overall shape and pose from the carving’s character but made him “friendlier,” which maybe not so… Read More »Polynesian Hotel logo origin clues

Grey’s Anatomy, over the line?

TV Squad asks if all Grey’s Anatomy fans are crazy. They have a sampling of questions from a recent appearance of Chandra Wilson on the new Rachel Ray show. New Nemo Musical Show Images At LaughingPlace.com

Verybig_nemopic
A remodeled theatre in the corner of Disney’s Animal Kingdom themepark is about to become the focus of Disney’s latest entry into the musical theatre market. Finding Nemo, the Musical will be a 30 minute show that features brand new songs, puppets, and special effects that are sure to please the average guest. If it becomes a breakout hit, it might even find it’s way to Broadway in an extended format.

LaughingPlace.com has scored some official Disney photos of a dress rehearsal for the show. You can really see the influence of Michael Curry, who co-created many of the puppets for The Lion King on Broadway as well as some Disney parades and the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics.

Some
puppets are larger than life — such as Crush (seen above), the cool sea turtle who
is nearly the size of a Volkswagen. Other characters will be portrayed
by a diverse array of puppetry styles, including rod, Bunraku and
shadow. This AP article has a few more details

The show is set to open to guest previews in Mid-November sometime. Hopefully by the 18th, but that’s not a guarantee.

The full Press Release is available below the cut.

Land for rumored new themepark now up for sale in Kissimmee

I drove by the site for the rumored “Paidia” themepark yesterday and noticed that a for sale sign for 458 acres is now erected on the property. That’s sad, but it’s probably another example of Katrina’s affects. The original investors for the new themepark were… Read More »Land for rumored new themepark now up for sale in Kissimmee

Extreme Makeover sneaks back into the schedule

I may have been premature in my celebration over the demise of Disney’s reality-tv show "Extreme Makeover". The full body sculpting show has been brought back to the schedule for ABC. I’m left wondering if audiences have an appetite for this sort of reality-tv anymore. Frankly, I’d rather see the Extreme Makeover Home Edition spinoff… Read More »Extreme Makeover sneaks back into the schedule

Commercial Alert, Disney’s new Food policy weak

Commercial Alert, a nonprofit public health and consumer group, says Disney’s new healthier food guidelines have large loopholes through which a whole fleet of twinkies could be driven. “Disney’s new food guidelines are more notable for what they omit than what they include. Conspicuously absent was any mention of standards for products marketed on ABC… Read More »Commercial Alert, Disney’s new Food policy weak
