The Bottle Boys (or Flaskedrengene in their native Danish) started making music using bottles as instruments back in 2005. They’ve since become something of a YouTube phenomanon. Their latest creative endeavor is “Under The Sea” from Disney’s The Little Mermaid, which makes them the perfect… Read More »Videopolis: Bottle Boys play Under The Sea
Even though Thor: The Dark World has technically debuted internationally and midnight showings begin tonight, I’m embargoed from posting my full review until tomorrow. Sucks to be me. On the other hand I have seen the movie already and can say as much that if you’re a fan of Marvel’s comic-book superhero movies you’ll be impressed with Thor 2.
In the meantime, catch up on these great featurettes that Disney released to get us all excited about the return to Asgard:
For more than 20 years the musical group Billy Hill and the Hillbillies have been entertaining guests at Disneyland. Sadly, they are now getting ready to begin their final season of performances at the park. A special holiday show starts this Friday and their final… Read More »So Long Billies – Billy Hill and the HillBillies Final Season Announced

Disney is currently trying out a “tiered” Fastpass+ system at Epcot. The idea behind it is simple, in that you’re limited as to how many major attractions you can choose a Fastpass for. It works like this:
Choose one Fastpass from the following:
Character Spot
IllumiNations
Maelstrom
Soarin
Test Track
And then two Fastpasses from the rest:
Captain EO
Journey into Imagination
Living with the Land
Mission: SPACE
Seas with Nemo and Friends
Spaceship Earth
Turtle Talk with Crush
This is clearly a response to guests choosing all “e-ticket” rides for their three Fastpass selections and none being available for off-site guests. It’s rumored (key word) that it will be implemented resort-wide during Christmas week, at the very least. The good news is that if you already have Fastpasses chosen, you won’t be effected by this new change, at least during this initial period of testing.
Construction on the last attraction remaining to be completed for the New Fantasyland expansion at the Magic Kingdom has taken some exciting leaps since we last checked in. Although they weren’t testing on the day I was there, as you can see above, a complete train has been added to the tracks of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train roller coaster. That’s an exciting bit of progress, but the attraction still is set to open sometime in 2014 with no official date yet announced.
Here’s more video from around the mountain and through the peek windows. Sadly the windows are getting progressively dirtier, but you can still make out most of the detail. I’m most excited about how the buildings that will house the entrance and exit queue are coming along. Notice the steel construction, gotta be hurricane proof in Orlando.
Thanks for watching. I’ve added a few photos below the jump if you can’t watch the video:
Part of me is frustrated that Once Upon a Time in Wonderland wasn’t on last week. I like the show, and it seems cruel to have it off the air after only three weeks, especially when it is struggling in the ratings. That’s a good… Read More »Once Upon a Time in Wonderland Preview: 1-4 The Serpent
Great news soccer fans. ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World will host Orlando City Lions Soccer Club for its 2014 season. The team is relocating due to renovation work at its current home of the Orlando Citrus Bowl. Additionally, a new stadium built with soccer in mind has been approved, so the Lions may have played their last game in the Citrus Bowl (depending on when it is able to re-open).
Although the deal isn’t 100% in stone, it’s generally accepted that the 2015 season will see Orlando’s team join Major League Soccer. So it will be an interesting transition year, to say the least. Disney and ESPN WWOS already have a great relationship with the MLS via Disney’s Pro-Soccer Classic and have hosted some training and sub-teams of various European clubs as well.
“We hope our fans are as thrilled as we are to call ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex our home field for the 2014 season,” said Phil Rawlins, president of Orlando City Soccer Club. “With professional sporting event experience, premier soccer fields and world-class amenities, this facility will enable us to play all of our home games in one location and in a venue where our fans will be closer to our players than ever before. We look forward to next year’s possibilities before hopefully heading into MLS for the 2015 season.” Read More »ESPN WWOS to host Orlando City Lions Soccer Club Home Games in 2014
It’s the time of year when food takes center stage, with Thanksgiving right around the corner and the holidays shortly following. Downtown Disney has taken note, and has given us foodies some more good news and something to look forward to: food trucks! There are no specific dates set yet for when the trucks will make their first appearances, just that they will debut sometime in early November.
So far we know that there will be four trucks showcasing various meals from around the world, so guests can experience international dishes without all the traveling. The first truck, “Enchanted Fare,” will serve a wide variety of foods from Disney parks around the globe, such as Croque Monsieur, Glass Noodle Salad, as well as Hand-Dipped Corn Dogs.
