‘Deadpool 3’ Has Finished Filming According to Dual Posts by Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman

.

After resuming production in November following the resolution of the actors strike, Marvel Studios‘ “Deadpool 3” has wrapped filming per its leading men Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.

The Details

“Deadpool 3” was originally slated to release in theaters May 2024 but it was delayed, along with many other movies, during the SAG-AFTRA strike last year.

At the time the strike started, the film was reportedly 50% finished, so once the strike ended in November 2023, “Deadpool 3” immediately resumed filming to make its new release date this summer.

The news that filming had finished this week was announced via social media posts from both Reynolds and Jackman on January 24th:

Director Shawn Levy reshared Reynold’s post, adding the comment: “Had the greatest time of my life shooting this movie. Post production starts at dawn⚔️❤️”

The Film

“Deadpool 3” is not just the third film in the “Deadpool” series, it is the first of the trilogy to be filmed and released since The Walt Disney Company acquired 20th Century Studios (formerly 20th Century Fox) in 2019.

The latest movie will be a reunion for Reynolds and Jackman, who previously starred together in 2009’s ill-fated “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” as their characters of Deadpool (Reynolds) and Wolverine (Jackman). That movie didn’t fare well with either critics or fans.

But “Deadpool 3,” as well as the other two standalone films in the series, feature more creative input from Reynolds, and the response so far has been very positive.

Not much is known about the plot of the upcoming film, except it seems as though it will be taking advantage of the MCU multiverse with past Marvel characters, like Jennifer Garner’s Elektra, making cameos.

And I know you’re wondering how Wolverine could be in this film after he died in the film, “Logan,” but Reynolds and Jackman addressed that for the fans.

“Deadpool 3” is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 26, 2024.
