After weeks of rumors, it’s been confirmed that actress Jennifer Garner will once again play the Marvel Comics’ character of Elektra in the upcoming “Deadpool 3.”

The Details

Jennifer Garner first played the role of Elektra in 2003 film “Daredevil,” featuring Ben Affleck as the title character. She then got her own spin-off with 2005’s “Elektra.”

Now, almost twenty years later, Garner will be returning to the role in the upcoming “Deadpool 3.”

It’s interesting that she’s portraying the character again, since Elektra also later appeared in the Marvel “Daredevil” series on Netflix, but in the show, the character was portrayed by Elodie Yung. Yung is currently portraying the lead character in the 2022 Fox series “The Cleaning Lady.”

It is not known how Elektra fits into the “Deadpool 3” story, so it could be a cameo, or it could be something more substantial.

The Film

Ryan Reynolds returns as the “Merc with a Mouth” in “Deadpool 3,” the first Deadpool movie under the 20th Century banner since it was acquired by Disney.

Also returning is Hugh Jackman, as Deadpool’s fellow X-Men character Wolverine, back from the dead somehow.

“Deadpool 3” will be directed by Shawn Levy, who previously directed Reynolds in 20th Century’s “Free Guy” and Netflix’s “The Adam Project,” which also starred Garner.

Not much is known about the plot of the film, but its release date was recently bumped up to May 3, 2024.
