Experiencing the New Bento Box Lunches at Morimoto Asia at Walt Disney World

Bento Box Lunches at Morimoto Asia
.

Last month, Morimoto Asia at Disney Springs announced it would be offering new Bento Box options for lunch, and this week, we were invited to experience these new lunch options.

We were able to experience two of the three Bento Box options, and as usual, Morimoto Asia’s culinary team did not disappoint.

Normally Asian menus are a bit difficult to me because I have food allergies that happen to be common ingredients in the cuisine, but I know that the restaurant’s team is trained to accommodate food allergies with a minimum of fuss.

My guest tried the Orange Chicken Bento Box, which featured the restaurant’s popular dish accompanied by a mixed green salad with yuzu dressing, 2 crispy chicken dumplings, 2 kanikama sushi rolls, rice, and a choice of soup as an appetizer (she chose Miso).

She devoured everything and proclaimed it as delicious. She even ate most of her salad (she’s not a salad person). The only thing I could try was the main dish, but the piece I ate had a nice outer crunchy coating, and plenty of delicious filling.

I went vegetarian with the Kung Pao Cauliflower Bento Box, which was accompanied by the aforementioned mixed green salad, with 2 crispy vegetable dumpling, 2 vegetable sushi rolls, rice, and a choice of soup.

Here’s where the service and culinary teams went into action. My server relayed my food allergies to the chef, and together came up with a dish that would be safe for me to eat.

They removed the mushrooms from the cauliflower dish, and the avocado from the veggie sushi rolls, along with giving me an allergy-safe soy sauce. They even caught that both soup options contained mushrooms and offered me an alternate appetizer of edamame.

Now, that’s service! And it’s why I always feel safe eating there with my food allergies.

I really enjoyed the Kung Pao Cauliflower, which had a sweet spicy sauce and also featured cooked peppers and carrots. I even dipped my tasty dumplings in the sauce instead of the soy sauce, that’s how good it was.

The Bento Boxes were flavorful and filling, but we still had room to split a dessert. Per our servers suggestion, we went with the Japanese Souffle Cheesecake.

It was the perfect choice! It was light and creamy, sweet but not overly so, and accompanied by chopped strawberries and a strawberry sorbet. It was a delightful way to end the meal.

My guest and I both agreed we’ll be returning to enjoy the Bento Boxes (and cheesecake) again. We also both enjoyed a refreshing lemonade with our lunch.

I really tried to find fault with our meal, but just couldn’t. Service was outstanding but never overbearing, the food was delicious, and the restaurant is just as beautiful as always.

Definitely leave room during your Walt Disney World visit to enjoy these new Bento Box lunches at Morimoto Asia. They are served at the restaurant Monday through Friday from 11:30am till 3:30pm, and reservations are highly recommended – make them online at MorimotoAsia.com or via the My Disney Experience app.
