Salt & Straw

The limited ice cream flavors for February 2024 at Salt & Straw are part of the “Chocolatiers” series,

  • Cloudforest’s Cocoa Hazelnut Magic Sauce: Sebastian Cisneros of Cloudforest grinds single-origin Ecuadorian chocolate together with perfect Oregon hazelnuts to create his “magic spread”. S&S gives it just a touch of Frangelico and ribbons it throughout light chocolate ice cream conjured from Cloudforest’s single-origin dark chocolate, along with a handful of candied hazelnuts for good measure.
  • Compartés’ Cake Batter Chocolate Fudge: A dazzlingly decadent cake batter ice cream, a valentine to Jonathan Grahm, Compartés’ chocolatier to the stars, is made with brown butter fudge to amp up the milkiness, and vanilla bean that tastes like yummy frosting.
  • Dandelion’s Chocolate Nibs & Frangipane: Dandelion’s dark cocoa nibs are steeped to create a stunning roasted chocolate base, then candied, and tossed back into the ice cream for double the cocoa power. A velvety frangipane swirl flecked with bits of crushed almonds is gently folded in for a flirtatious finish.
  • Exquisito Chocolate’s Passionfruit Truffles (vegan): This vegan flavor has a simple vanilla coconut cream mingling ecstatically with intense canary yellow passionfruit coconut cream, all studded with shards of Exquisito chocolate truffles and stracciatella.
  • Fran’s Chocolate Almond Gold Bar: Fran’s Chocolates iconic Almond Gold Bars are chopped into bite-sized pieces and tossed into a silky salted vanilla ice cream. Then, ribbons of heavenly dark-burned caramel and ultra-rich dark chocolate stracciatella are drizzled in.
