Lucasfilm has confirmed that a season two of its Star Wars series “Ahsoka” is in the works with creator Dave Filoni, which is great news for fans of the series who were waiting to find out.
The Details
The “Ahsoka” news was almost a throwaway line in the announcement of the new Star Wars film, “The Mandalorian & Grogu,” which will be directed by co-creator Jon Favreau.
“‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ will lead Lucasfilm’s ongoing feature-development slate, including films helmed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, James Mangold, and Dave Filoni, who is also currently developing ‘Ahsoka’ Season 2, among those in the works,” the announcement said.
Beyond that, no details have been announced. I wouldn’t expect the new season to hit Disney+ before 2025.
The Series
“Ahsoka,” which aired its Season 1 finale on October 3, 2023, stars Rosario Dawson as the Jedi Ahsoka Tano, a former padawan of Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen), who is trying to save the galaxy from a new threat after the fall of the Galactic Empire known as Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen).
The series also stars Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Mandalorian warrior Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as New Republic general Hera Syndulla, the late Ray Stevenson as Dark Jedi Baylan Skoll, Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elspeth and David Tennant as the droid Huyang.
“Ahsoka” marked the first live-action appearances of Sabine, Hera, Thrawn, and Ezra, who were all main characters on the animated “Star Wars Rebels” TV series.
The series is created by Filoni, who has worked on “The Mandalorian,” “The Book of Boba Fett,” and “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.”
Filoni is also scheduled to direct a feature film that will reportedly wrap up his TV series’ storylines.
