The Fifteenth Doctor Gets First Adventure in ‘Doctor Who’ Holiday Special on December 25, 2023

Doctor Who - The Church on Ruby Road
.

This year’s festive “Doctor Who” episode, “The Church on Ruby Road,” will see the Fifteenth Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) take control of the TARDIS, and meet new companion Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson) for the first time, and it will air worldwide on both Disney+ and the BBC on Christmas Day, December 25, 2023.

The Details

After splitting from the Fourteenth Doctor (David Tennant) in the last of the 60th anniversary specials, titled “The Giggle,” the Fifteenth Doctor will meet his companion in “The Church on Ruby Road.”

Little is known about Ruby Sunday, as she was abandoned on Christmas Eve as a baby. Now living with her mum, Carla (Michelle Greenridge), and grandmother, Cherry (Angela Wynter), her world is about to be turned upside down when she encounters the Doctor and the two set off on their first adventure together.

One that includes goblins…and perhaps the secret of her birth.

And not just any goblins, but singing goblins (warning…possible episode spoilers in the video):

The Trailer

Here is a look at what to expect from the Fifteenth Doctor, Ruby Sunday, and their upcoming adventure:

How to Watch

Doctor Who’s Christmas special, “The Church on Ruby Road,” airs December 25th at 5:55pm GMT on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, and streams on Disney+ globally outside of the UK and Ireland.

In the U.S. that translates to 9:55am PT/12:55 ET on Disney+.

Are you excited to see the Fifteenth Doctor’s first adventure? Based on what I saw in “The Giggle,” I really like the energy Ncuti Gatwa (pronounced SHOO-tee GAT-wa) brings to the role.
