Last fall, Disney Branded Television and the BBC announced that they had joined forces to bring fan-favorite series “Doctor Who” to a global audience, and on November 25, 2023, that partnership will start with the debut of the first of three Doctor Who 60th Anniversary Specials on Disney+ called ‘The Star Beast.’
The Details
The three specials, which air into December 2023, will reunite the Fourteenth Doctor (David Tennant) and Donna Temple-Noble (Catherine Tate) as they come face-to-face with what the BBC says is their most terrifying villain yet: the Toymaker (played by Neil Patrick Harris in his “Doctor Who” debut).
All three specials will premiere on Disney+ globally except in the UK and Ireland, where they will still air on the BBC.
“Star Beast” will debut at 10:30am PT/1:30pm ET on Disney+ U.S., which is 6:30pm in the UK.
Additional new cast for the specials includes Yasmin Finney as Rose Temple-Noble (Donna’s daughter), Miriam Margolyes as the voice of the Meep, and Ruth Madeley as Shirley Anne Bingham, as well as returning characters Jacqueline King as Sylvia Noble (Donna’s mother), Karl Collins as Shaun Temple (Donna’s husband), and Jemma Redgrave as Kate Lethbridge-Stewart.
All three of the 60th Anniversary specials will also be available on DVD and Blu-ray, and a special Steelbook edition (cover below), on December 18, 2023.
