Marvel fans got their first look at Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine return in “Deadpool 3,” as both stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman took to their Instagram stories with a new still from the film.
The Details
The photo shows Deadpool and Wolverine walking down a beach, but what caught the eyes of fans was the Wolverine suit.
It is finally the traditional yellow with navy trim from the comics, though slightly altered.
The suit had been teased in a deleted alternate scene from 2013’s “The Wolverine,” but the costume has never been worn by the character on film before.
However, while the photo was the same in both postings, the surrounding graphics were not.
Ryan Reynolds, who is returning to the Deadpool role, had the words “Don’t Blink” typed on the post, along with two drawings of both Deadpool and Wolverine.
Hugh’s post also had the words “Don’t Blink,” but in a different font and size, and his animated drawings were also different.
Don’t Blink
While the animations could be the two actors having fun with the fans, the words “Don’t Blink” have fans thinking it could be a clue to the movie’s big bad.
Now the words could just be a reference to the fact that both Reynolds and Jackman posted their photos to Reels, which tend to delete after 24 hours.
OR it could be a hidden reference to the inter-Dimensional X-Men villain Mojo, a member of the race of Spineless Ones, beings whose evolution was stunted by their lack of spines until the scientist Arize created exoskeletons and other mechanical devices that could help them move.
One of his known traits is that he doesn’t blink.
He’s also incredibly narcissistic, ruling over the planet Mojo World in the pocket dimension dubbed the Mojoverse.
Mojo is also known for his obsession with creating and broadcasting violent and sensationalized TV shows featuring captive Mutants who are forced to battle each other for his entertainment. He’s a master of manipulation, often using mind control and other forms of manipulation to bend mutants to his will.
Which could explain these photos snuck from the set of “Deadpool 3,” which show the two heroes fighting each other:
It could also explain why the movie will feature cameos from other Marvel superheroes like Jennifer Garner as Elektra.
I guess we’ll find out as we get closer to the film’s release date. Let us know your theories in the comments.
