Two weeks ago Walt Disney World announced the official opening date for “TRON Lightcycle / Run presented by Enterprise” would be April 4, 2023, and now we have news on when Cast Members will be the first to experience the attraction.
The Details
Cast Member previews are an important part of any attraction opening, as it allows them to experience the ride, which in turn gives them both the knowledge of what to expect, and the excitement to impart to Guests who will undoubtedly ask questions.
We’ve just received a new transmission from the Grid that previews for all Cast Members will take place between February 6 and March 3, 2023, with Magic Kingdom Cast Members getting Cast-only exclusive early access previews just prior (so they’ll actually have two chances to preview “TRON Lightcycle / Run” before it opens to Guests).
I’m told there will also be special #DisneyCastLife photo opportunities available during all of the previews.
If you’re a Cast Member wanting more information, please visit the Hub for all the details, including when registration will open up.
We don’t have dates for Passholder previews, but they will probably start shortly after the Cast Member previews. When we hear of a date, we’ll let you know.
As always, be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter to be alerted to important Disney news.
About the Attraction
The story of “TRON Lightcycle / Run” picks up after the movie “TRON: Legacy,” where Kevin’s son, Sam Flynn, has opened a second gateway into a digital realm called the Grid.
The first of these portals he created can be found at Shanghai Disneyland with the original “TRON Lightcycle Power Run” attraction.
When you enter the queue at the Magic Kingdom attraction, you’ll feel as if you’re digitized and transported to the Grid for a special Lightcycle race.
It’s your Team Blue against the Grid’s menacing Programs, Team Orange. Your goal is to be the first to race through eight Energy Gates and secure victory.
Walt Disney World says the attraction will be one of the fastest coasters at any Disney theme park in the world.
Get a quick sneak peek with the “Good Morning America” weekend anchors before you ride at this post.
And did you hear? There’s a new “TRON” movie in the works, too!
